Authentic taste

I enjoy spicy food. And love having different condiments around my kitchen. This is a new treat for me. The combination of the bean and chili work well in dishes such as spicy Vietnamese soups or Thai stews. A little goes a long way so if you're not used to spicy food I would recommend trying just a little to start. It has a great balance of salty spicy and umami.

Great for Ma Po tofu recipe. Yummy! I will throw a teaspoon in my ramen for a spicy kick too!

There is a warning on the jar that says: “consuming this product can expose you to chemicals, including lead, and cadmium, which is known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth effects…“.That is WAY too high a price for a good-tasting spice!

Doubanjiang is great in things like ramen and stir-fries that you want to add just a hint of spice to. This has some surprisingly large chili pieces in it, and is a bit less salty than I was expecting. I just used some in a tofu stir-fry, and while it wasn't particularly spicy, the flavor did come through pretty well. Still, I think I would use twice as much next time.
