I needed to add a monitor arm on my cheap desktop which is made of honeycomb cardboard. A few years ago I also tried adding a monitor arm and it just compressed the desktop and didn't work well at all. This time round, thanks to some research, I found these plates and they allowed me to add an even heavier monitor arm with two rather heavy monitors onto the same cardboard desktop. No damage at all and the monitor arm is sturdy as it should be. Highly recommended for anyone trying to add a monitor arm to a desktop that isn't solid.

I bought this reinforcement plate after seeing early signs of compression on a relatively thin MDF desk when using a heavy monitor arm. As soon as I handled it, the benefit was obvious: the steel plates have reassuring weight and stiffness, and the EVA pads are thick enough to grip without feeling spongy. Installation took only a few minutes, aligning the top and bottom plates before tightening the C-clamp, and the difference in load distribution was immediate. The desk surface stopped flexing entirely, even when adjusting the monitor arm through its full range of motion. In extended use, the plate does exactly what good structural hardware should do, which is disappear from daily thought. The pressure is spread across a much wider footprint, protecting the desk from dents and long-term warping, and nothing shifts once tightened. The only minor compromise is aesthetic, as it is visible beneath the desk edge, though the matte black finish keeps it unobtrusive. For the price, this is an extremely effective solution for anyone mounting monitors on glass or lightweight desks and wanting long-term peace of mind.

I have an Ikea desk (specifically the MALM desk) which are known not to be very strong with pressure in small areas, I have a monitor arm with 3 monitors on it and have this between it, my monitors have been standing for almost a year now with no damage to my desk so I say it does the job really well. Looks really good and doesnt take up a lot of room. Was a bit tricky to install due to the shape of the desks cable management but I was able to do it. Will probably be easier to do with a different desk.

I bought the arms to hold my laptop and screen. I felt that after a while, it would affect the top of my desk, so I purchased this product to help support the desk setup. I like the sturdiness, ease of installation, quality and fit.
