The Ratchet we all wanted in 1985
Transformers fans who grew up in the 1980s will remember the total confusion upon receiving Ratchet or Ironhide as a gift or seeing them at a friends house. Of course, that was before the internet and an understanding of the original toy(which did not resemble the animation or comic model in any way) was not easily accessible. Great strides have been made in recent years to rectify these issues. The result is what you see here. Ratchet in all his animated glory with a beautiful alt mode. As a robot, Ratchet looks perfect. The detailing is fantastic. Some might point to the Autobot sign of life being inaccurate and lament the lack of red cross (copyright issue) as being inaccurate, however the red cross was primarily the comics and the animation model frequently had nothing on the shoulders, as is the case for the 1986 movie. The Vanette ambulance mode looks great too. The mold is about as perfect as one can expect, and I enjoyed figuring out how everything fit together neatly on my own(I love puzzles and usually try to avoid the manuals). There is a fair amount of painted transparent plastic on this figure. This means that several parts are inherently fragile and will become more fragile with age. This also means that there is some minor color mismatching in Vanette ambulance mode. One thing that is lacking on the figure is coloring details Stripes and other details are nicely molded into the model, but there is no color applied. A window and bumper are molded into the back of the vanette, but are solid white plastic. I will not advertise a third party by name, but there are companies making sticker sheets to address these issues for this and many other figures. While I have not used them yet, I may end up getting a sticker set for this figure to address these minor issues. As for packaging, I was initially concerned when online reviews for the figure had pointed out that the light bar components on the legs were loose and could stand to be glued in place. The open front packaging means that loose pieces are not likely to be securely contained within the box. I was pleased to find that the manufacturer had secured these pieces to the figure with rubber bands inside the packaging. I also have to note that with the windowless open box design, orders filled by Amazon Prime typically have these boxes contained inside a sealed plastic bag just in case this sort of thing is or becomes a problem. Overall an excellent figure for anyone who grew up with the show in the 80s

If you missed out on Earthrise, Studio Series 86 betterr
Transformers Movie studio Series 86..better version of Ratchet, more accurate, good size figure in robot and vehicle, definitely worth the money, great quality, accurate color and fun to play with. Get it while the price is still affordable before it cost to much. I couldn't get the war for Cybertron Ratchet or Earthrise due to price ..SS86 is your chance grab this legendary character for those die hard collectors.

Calling Dr. Ratchet
While not as accurate to the G1 character as compared to SS86 HotRod, Optimus Prime, and the Dinobots, this is close enough. Obviously, a repaint of SS86 Ironhide, as they almost always tend to be in toy form, this gets the job done for modernizing the G1 aesthetic. The best part of the transformation are the legs while tabbing in the hood to the front of the vehicle mode is the worse part of the transformation just like Ironhide. However, they did make it easier with this repainted figure, so a slight improvement. And just like Ironhide, the (red) stripe on vehicle mode is missing or not painted. Still a great CHUG figure. Note, I like the fact that you can utilize/store their pistols as exhaust pipes in alt mode.

Pretty good, & probably the best version
There's something about the face and headsculpt that I wish were more screen accurate... But overall, this is probably the best version of this character that will be released for a long, long, long time. And this is the first Ratchet I've ever had in my collection. So I'm very happy with this purchase.
