I’m born and raised in South Louisiana , so I’m not new to fishing. I am new to kayak fishing. I have enough heavy action poles because , in certain bodies of water, you never know what may take your bait. I have a kayak buddy that was raised fishing for bass and he recently took me to his secret spot. My heavy , long poles didn’t serve me well in my kayak. His poles more closely resembled this one ,in shape and size. This combo solves several issues for me. The biggest of which is the way the pole breaks down. I can actually transport it inside my truck without it sitting on the dashboard , getting smashed in the door or interfering with the dog ( or fishing buddy) in the back seat. I could easily keep 3 or 4 of these combos in the truck without obstruction. The reel easily attached to the rod as did the lever to the reel. The lever can be swapped for use with either hand. I couldn’t believe how light this pole is. It perfectly fits my need of a medium power combo. It has a nice feel in my hand and great balance. Most of the bass we caught were 3-5lbs. That’s exactly what this combo is made for. I really like this spin reel. The action on the bail and the crank are super smooth, right out of the box. I prefer poles that indicate their action and power on the pole. This one also indicates the preferred range of size of line as well as the preferred range of weight of the lure to optimize the performance of the rod/reel combo. The color and finish of the rod are impressive to say the least. The action on the reel feels like reels that cost hundreds of dollars, smooth as silk!!! I can’t wait to get this combo out on the water. My buddy won’t be ribbing me about using my “whale poles” , as he calls them. My arms and wrists will surely appreciate the light weight after a few hundred casts. I see a few more of these combos in my near future. I think I may get a couple to give as gifts as well. I’m excited about the break-down size of this combo and I want my kayak buddy to experience the ease of transporting 2 three foot pieces instead of how we’ve been doing it. I highly recommend this combo for beginners as well as seasoned anglers. I’ve paid more for lesser quality/performing poles than this combo sells for. None of them were as visually appealing as this set. I’ll be the envy at the launch!!!

I am not a fisherman as I only fish a few times each year while camping, so I see no need for high-priced fishing gear. I picked up this combo as a "weekend warrior" package and I plan to use it in a couple of weeks. Initial impressions are that the rod seems pretty strong, and the reel has a very smooth action. If this combo lets me down in a few weeks I will update my review.

Ordered and received quickly, went fishing yesterday. The rod broke in half on first fish - never saw the fish, the one that got away because the rod broke! Reel seems great. Returning for refund.
