Worth every penny
I had a PIR that was fitted by a professional electrician some years ago. It went on the blink so that the exterior lights were always on. Thankfully LED, but even so...I read lots of reviews complaining about the bad design on many of the small PIR units. Typically you are tying to wire these up in a tight space at the top of a ladder or other awkward position. I paid the money to get this one as reviews say that it is a breeze to fit. I could not agree more - the wiring and set up were super-easy and it worked first go. There is enough room to get at least one power-in lead and two power-out leads, which is what I did. I saw complaints about the final top screw. I understand the complaint but I made sure that I did not drop the little devil as it was pretty small - probably worth putting a dab of Vaseline on your screwdriver to hold it in place as you fit it - otherwise you'll never see it again. Other than that, a totally recommendable purchase.IP ratings on electrical goods can be a bit hit and miss in my experience. This looks like it is likely to take some weather without getting full of water and spiders!

Better quality than Screwfix / B&Q own brand
Expensive but fed up with previous cheaper Screwfix fitting that stayed on all day despite adjustment to sensors. This unit was easy to fit and extremely easy to set up. Really impressed this the auto sensor operation - works very well and worth the extra££

Good if flawed
Good solid PIR Early days but seems to be working well. I'm not overly impressed with design although it does look nice when finished. The unit is in 3 pieces. You screw the back half of the main body to the surface through the smaller backing plate. This allows for the lateral movement of the whole body. The PIR detector itself only moves vertically. The front part of the main body hinges inwards from the bottom. You hook it in and then secure it at the top with a single screw. This is my main gripe. You need to leave room above the unit to screw the screw in. This was a pain for me as I wanted to use the existing wiring hole. The fixing screw or preferably screws should be inserted in the front of the unit. At the top or in the sides is stupid. Even using a tiny Wera ratchet with a Phillips bit in it I still had to leave a good 50mm clearance above it.Apart from this, it is a good unit

An outdoor PIR that actually works
Went through various PIRs that would seem to work short term (badly) before being on all the time or triggering for no reason at all. This unit feels better quality than other cheaper alternatives. So far its working perfectly and looks smart as well. Time will tell how well it lasts though

Failure to work correctly
Having installed as per instructions the PIR worked correctly. After 6 weeks the unit has now switched the lights on permanently. I have tried switching supply on & off, checked wiring etc and still the same.I am not happy and attemptin to contact supplier

Works perfectly
it is a replacement for an old one. It is easy to install. Nothing bad to say.

50% Excellent
I purchased two of these sensors after spending quite some time looking around. Whilst most products seem to focus on being cheap, Steinel promise German quality. One was great - although perhaps doesn't detect at quite the distance promised - and is attractive and well made. The second one I ordered didn't work at all simply turning the lights on and off with the wall switch so about as good as a piece of wire. Amazon returns were quick. So I'd say an excellent product and perhaps I got a lemon with one of them. Recommended. Probably.

Worth spending a bit more.
Looked for a while before buying this. There seems to be cheap then more pricey. This does exactly as it says. The range is brilliant and comes on from a fair distance. It works on our drive and back towards the front door. Perfect. Set it to come on for as long as suits you. Wired up fairly easy as a replacement for an old one.
