No Issues So Far
Setting up cameras on my parents barn due to some vandalism they've recently experienced, needed a sturdy affordable switch able to survive outdoors, it's in the barn so it's out of direct sunlight but heat and cold are unavoidable. Been up for a few weeks now with a fiber inlet, 1 poe camera and 1 poe wifi unifi dongle, no issues so far. Hasn't yet been through the rigors of the heights of summer but it's been high 80s for awhile now, thermometer I have inside the enclosure says it gets about 8ish degrees hotter in there than outside ambient temperatures, no issues so far with high 90s inside the enclosure, though the box is rated to 170F I believe so should always be well within operating parameters.Aside from that, switch is very small, has a din rail mount, looks nice, and has a sturdy outer shell, nothing to complain aboutWill update if there are ever any future issues

Ten powerful ports in a very small package
The first thing I noticed was how small the Throncom switch is that it is very small. The 10 Gigabit ports are arranged in two rows and it fits into my hand easily. The body is rugged and full metal which helps in dissipating heat.I tested this on the bench and will move it to a remote closet to test it in the harsh conditions of the shop floor. The switch has a DIN rail mount at the back but does not come with the wall mount bracket. This is not a problem because I have spare brackets. I like the green redundant power input at the top of the switch which allows me to connect this switch to a power distribution box in the same closet. The product documentation said that each of the 10 ports can be used as the uplink port and I tested each one of them against the other 9 using my laptop. I conducted speed tests and some online videos to confirm the network traffic is smooth. My ISP gives me approximately 380Mbps download and 12Mbps upload speeds. My test table shows that the average of all 90 tests is very close to the speeds I get at the firewall/router.I like the Throncom switch and will be using it in projects where there is a need for many network devices in a shop floor.

Decent Quality, Inaccurate Information in Manual, No Response from Support
Updated on September 7th, 2024I received a follow-up e-mail from the manufacturer, from my original support request, and from a different address, including their initial attempted response. The original e-mail response that the Support team attempted was made within twelve hours of my initial e-mail; however, the e-mail was blocked by spam filters at the Server level (DNSBL). The Support team did reach out through another address, including the forwarded e-mail after my original review was posted.I've kept my original review below, but I am adjusting to four stars (from three), based on the support department responding, following up, and providing additional feedback. The Support/Customer Service has exceeded my expectations in their ongoing communication to ensure that this switch is meeting my expectations. While they have confirmed that an external power source is required, they have provided clarification on the information in the manual, and feedback on how to best move forward.Originally reviewed on August 5th, 2024.I've been looking at converting my traveling AP setup to be a little more... clean. I've got three UAP-AC-PRO APs that I carry with me, then run to different areas at Conferences, with injectors, etc. It gets a bit bulky, and a lot frustrating, to have to carry everything. So, the time came to make some changes.I've got a traveling enclosure with this 8-port POE Switch installed in it (I'm using a portable router to connect to either a Hotspot, a Wired Uplink, or a Wireless AP from the facility we visit, then have everything else route through this setup. So I've got one AP mounted to the inside of my portable enclosure, with the POE+ switch mounted on a small piece of DIN Rail inside. I've got a 48 VDC Power Supply that plugs in with ease, and two 300ft Cat6 drops for the additional APs. When packing it up, the three APs go into the enclosure with the Switch. I also carry two small injectors with 1 ft Cat6 cables for the Wireless Mesh functionality (if/when I use it). I prefer a single-point connection to avoid issues, but that's me.This POE Switch does well powering all three APs. I've not noticed any issues with heat, and I've monitored all three APs. Unifi Cloudkey to know that it's not dropping offline. The system as a whole works, but the problems I've encountered are more on the information side. The Manual that ships with this indicates that it can power from POE as well (As in Input as well as Output). When testing, I was unable to get the switch to power up with any POE injector or switch. This was a bit frustrating during my initial tests before I mounted everything and got my 48 VDC power supply set up. The second issue I encountered was e-mailing the support address. I sent an e-mail almost a week ago asking questions and have yet to receive a response. Each of these issues, for me, takes away from the overall product. I knocked off a star each because of it.Overall, it's not bad, and I'm glad to have it in my kit. But I do wish the information was correct and that their support team did respond to questions.

Just what I needed...
I was looking for a 10 port switch that was industrial with low power consumption and decided with this one. It's very light, very low wattage and has the power that comes with a secondary option if something Happens. If you are looking for a great switch that can take a beating go for this one.

It has Failed
Worked like expected, until recently. Noticed slow and corrupted data on 2 ports. Now most of the ports have failed. Slow data transmission on most ports. Warranty?

Great Industrial DC Switch
I was in need of another one of these switches for my off-grid projects. It is able to handle the data I need and in the weather temps it must go through. So far I’m very happy with this product. Would suggest if you need something for your stuff in the same scenarios.

Great for my workshop.
It was time to replace the old consumer switch that I was using in my workshop with something a little more robust, and I came across this switch. I've recently started working with DIN rail equipment as well and it seemed like the perfect thing. Rugged metal case, POE and wide temperature variation fit the workshop environment great, and saves me from having to use separate POE injectors. It's not mission critical for me, but my Starlink connection runs through it so it's nice to have the redundant power option. it was simple to pop this onto the DIN rail in a protected box, plug everything in, and just have it work. I'm happy.
