Premium S Series Make a Knife SX90K Knife Making Blank Kit Laguiole Folder

I ordered this for my husband, and was worried that there would not be enough to do to make this a really fun project. Some other reviewers mention that they don't like the unfinished quality of the kit, but to me it seems like finishing the pieces yourself would be part of the fun and really help to make it your own. This will be my husbands first attempt at knife making, so I will update the review if I have anything to add later, but so far it seems great.

A beautiful piece of cutlery. My father had one, which I stole from him after I found it abandoned in a closet at the house. Don't know what happened then, but building it was a very neat thing. I managed to make a nickel plate with my initials, just for kicks and it made it look even prettier. The finish product is simply beautiful.

I bought this as a gift for my husband for Christmas. He loves it. Perfect for anyone who devils in knife making. The material the handle made out of is not the best so I would suggest looking for alternative options for the handle.

The scales look like someone used recycled tongue depressor and shaped them. The pins are brass but but nickle silver pins would match better. Unknown metal for blade and side pieces could use some buff and polish. For a starter pocket knife it's ok. The blade came nice and sharp. The scales came flat I'd prefer more rounded scales to fit the hand better like what's show in the how to video.

This is a fun little kit knife, I only use cabon steel knifes but this little guy with some 1500grit sandpaper and the metal shines up. Almost like the real thing. Take your time, and nobody will be the wiser. I will be getting more of these kits, It beats watching the big box !

I have tried 2 of these kits, both have failed after just a small amount of lite use. Both had bad and uneven casting work. the decorative piece on the back of the blade snapped off. I used antler for the handle at the customers request which is now wasted.

Very poor quality liners and back spring are not flat and don’t match up. Lots of sanding and buffing to get parts functional. Wood scales supplied are substandard quality as well. You would be better off rebuilding a broken knife than investing 3 days making this one go together correctly and replacing scales

Exceeded expectations. My Grandson coveted it and was given to him as a present. I ordered three additional for the other kids. This was my first ever try at making a knife and while it takes a bid of sanding to make the pins invisible it is well worth the effort.
