somewhat difficult to install, works great
The instructions, template and posters provided to install this were are good start, but the english translation and lack of details in some of the steps proved too difficult to follow. Only when I ended up watching the video linked in the instructions was I able to complete the install. Now that I have it installed and adjusted, it works great!

Better than expected.
Bought one to try out on a steel exterior door at the church. Needed a hold-open for the food pantry deliveries. Easy installation following the directions. Worked so well after several months of use that I bought 5 more to replace some aging originals.

Difficult if installing by a soffit
This is a high quality door closer. I assume other name brands will be similar.BUT these are my observations after installing it on a metal door via regular installation with a left hinge, inward opening door. For reference, It is number 4 on the installation instructions.Prep is easy. Just find which installation method you will use. It all depends on whether your hinge is right or left, whether it a regular, parallel installation and whether you are installing the closer in the door or the frame. Also keep in mind, get the closer rated for your door. The lower the number, such as size 1-3, the lighter and narrower the door, sizes 4-6 are for heavier and wider doors in general. Metal or wood doors install the same way except that you will use different screws.Installation is simple. Find the template, tape it on the door and mark the holes. Four for the closer, two for the arm bracket. Six in total.VERY IMPORTANT, make sure the closer is level; otherwise the door may not open or close properly. The arm bracket is adjusted by turning left or right to lengthen or shorten. The arm bar needs to be tilted 10-15 degrees to the left (away from the hinges) to allow the door to have the proper tension.I discovered two issues upon completion. One is the door will be harder to open upon installation. I tried to make adjustments but the tension of the the closer will always add some weight to the door.Secondly and very important. After installing, I could only open the door to around 75 degrees which meant the door was around 7 inches away from the wall. I moved the bar several times, adjusted the bar length and the door still would not budge past 75 degrees. I finally figured out the issue. Behind and slightly above the door, I have a soffit that extends from the ceiling to the top of the door. When opening the door, the arm bar hits the soffit preventing it from opening further.I have two options, lower the door closer or shave off the portion of the soffit blocking the door.My bad. Not the manufacturer’s fault. I would buy again as I now have a quiet door that does not annoy my neighbors.Check out the photos for a visual explanation.

This was difficult to follow instruction.
We had to design a different way to install- it worked but not easy.
