MECHANICAL WATCHES may not be as precise as a QUARTZ but unless you are in Olympics or a DEADLY Taskforce on mission to space you don't need to get those seconds right. Well... I don't even care for a few of them.People DON'T own mechanical watches for precise timekeeping, they own them for the love of it and the engineering marvel of JEWELS regulating time and space precisely. OMEGAs, Hamiltons, Tissot et al have both quartz and mechanical but the iconic and pricier ones are MECHANICAL. VOSTOK is a RUSSIAN brand and RUSSIA is known for its engineering Marvel. SCUBA DUDE AMFIBIA is a dive watch rated for 200 Meters of Water resistance which means it can handle pressure equivalent of one which is generated at 200 meters. Well.. to be sure and in my case I have never gone beyond 15 meters in depth. It has got this unique technology where in the rubber seal tightens around the watch as the pressure increases to keep water out. You can read all about it on the net.Vostok has been around right since WW2 but started manufacturing under the BRAND name in the mid 60's and has been ever since.Its an automatic watch, an iconic automatic watch from East of Russia with 31 Jewels mechanism and a power reserve of 31 hours( the manual says it should be worn once at least in 24 hours or needs to be hand wound which is easy)It looks awesome, I chose the teal as in the picture but comes in many colors and cases. Mine is a 710 case with a numbered rotating bezel.The watch is quite precise (+12 seconds a week in my case)has a nice rugged lookCan also be passed on with Khakhis you wear to work if you change the ZULU strap which it comes with ( I hate the strap)Has a acrylic dome and not mineral glass which is not a deterrent as scratches can be easily polished off.The second hand cannot be hacked but is steady and smooth.STRAP is something you should ignore. I am going to get myself a solid Silicon or Rubber strap. This one is neither good looking nor comfortable.It is waterproof indeed. I put it in the bucket for 24 hours and it's unfazed.They have Many dials with multiple models but mostly two movements 2416A ( 17 Jewels) and 2416B ( 31 jewels)At this price point ( its sold at USD 100 around for scuba dude and some KOMANDIRSKIE (2416A) with 60 meters of Water resistance sells at even 50USD) you cannot go wrong.Do not be fooled by its low price point, these watches last a lifetime, never needs a battery and luminescence is BRIGHT and comfortableAutomatic is the way to go, QUARTZ is just use and throw.
