Spear & Jackson2190NS Select Carbon Dig Spade

I bought this alongside the fork because they were a good price from a reliable manufacturer. My only problem, and as i said in my previous review, the issue may be me, but i find it really heavy to use. It doesn't help that the soil i'm digging is heavy clay . That said, i think this will last, and it does come with a guarantee.

Excellent spade. So happy I bought it. Makes digging so much easier and a joy. Hadn't realised how bad my old cheap and nasty spades were until purchasing this superior quality one. Wish I'd bought one 40 years ago!! Should last a long time if looked after. Definitely recommend.

This is a very sturdy solid spade. It's no lightweight though at 2.4kg (about 5lbs) so the weight may be a consideration for elderly people who may find it too heavy.It's got a gently curved edge which makes it great for penetrating hard ground, in fact it makes light work of digging. Excellent value for money, very solidly built and extremely unlikely to break. The area of the spade itself is larger than your average spade. I'm really pleased with it. The grip on the handle has a rubber section which makes handling it far more comfortable and helps avoid blisters. Highly recommended.
