This chess set is very nice quality. The chess pieces are weighted nice. I think my grandson will love it!

I've seen and used a LOT of chess sets in my day. From cheap hollow pieces on a cardboard board to tournament pieces on a rolling board to glass boards/pieces to nice wooden pieces and boards. This one is easily one of the nicest I've seen and definitely the nicest one I have.The pieces all feel very solid. The felt pads on the bottom are adhered well to the pieces and I don't feel like the weights inside are going to fall out. The pieces are also easily recognizable (sometimes on non-tournament-spec pieces, it can be difficult to tell the pieces apart). When you pick up the pieces, they feel really solid in the hand.The board itself is also super nice. The squares are black and white and are appropriately sized for the pieces' base diameters (sometimes the size of the squares don't match the size of the pieces). Another thing I really like is that the board has two drawers on either side that hold the pieces. In the couple weeks that I've had the board sitting out at home, nearly everyone has mentioned how nice it looks.The only downside I can think of is that my board came with some spots on it, but they came right off when I wiped it down with a wet paper tower. Looks perfect now.I'd definitely recommend this board for any chess enthusiast. Would make a great gift too!

Everything about this board is perfect. The quality feel is great and its so good to play on. Does not feel cheap and the board has a nice weight and everything does not slide around.

I have no idea how to play chess but my husband loves chess. We were happy to give this a try. He’s currently now trying to teach me. This chess set is one of the most beautiful chess sets I’ve seen in person! This set is no joke. The box with everything in it is really heavy. This is a set that you sit up somewhere and you don’t move it. We have my husband’s set up in his game room. We perched a small table that this game can sit on without having to move it. Now, you can have this where you have to set it up every single time you want to use it. I just don’t think this would be very comfortable. This chess set feels so luxurious. It feels like it’s extremely expensive and it is expensive. I didn’t know a chess board could be this much! The wood that this is made out of is so shiny and such good quality. You will be able to have this chess set for forever. I can see it lasting generations if you properly take care of it.

This chess set has the look and feel of pure luxury, the pieces are well made, solid and look great. The playing surface is gorgeous, and the lacquer is very smooth and evenly spread and comes scratch free and it should stay that way as each piece has a felt padded bottom to help prevent scratching the surface. The chess board is smaller than a tournament size board (21 inches) and even though it says its 15.6 inches, the actual playing surface is only around 14.6 inches as the white border takes up some of the playing space. The border does add to the overall look of luxury, but I think I would have been happier with it if the playing surface took up the entire surface space, which would have made the squares a little bigger. The drawers pull out and slide in a little roughly at first, but after opening and closing them several times it started to get easier and smoother, and I feel with more time and use they should work perfectly. The pieces are a little hard to get out of their spots at first, especially the pawns, but again, I feel this will also get easier with more use. Overall, I am very happy with this chess set, the playing surface is smaller than what I am used to playing on, but the look of luxury makes up for that for me. I do think this chess set is kind of pricey, but if you love to play chess and want to impress someone or just to spoil yourself a little, this is the chess set to do just that.
