I Think, Therefore I Am: All the Philosophy You Need to Know: 1 (I Used to Know That ...)

As an English & Philosophy graduate I wanted something to dip into to remind myself of what I learned all those years ago (then promptly forgot). This is perfect for that. A good 'toe-dipper' of a book to keep by the bed!

This book is very easy to read, main philosophical schools and thoughts from ancient Greek to modern times are covered. It can be good for somebody who is interested to get into the topic and encourage you to take further studies on the subject. Can serve as a quick reference to the main philosophical thoughts and it will serve the ones who don't want to study the philosophy deeper but just want to be informed about the main achievements and contributions of certain philosophers.

Love these books. Easy and entertaining way to learn.

Not engaging enough to get me through it all.

A simple yet concise collection of information, ideas and writings of some of the greatest minds in the field of Philosophy. While others involve going through wordy theories and ideas, in a way that is easy to follow and a must for any fan of Philosophy.

I have read many so-called 'introduction to philosophy' books but many of them are not that introductory. Lesley Levene little book is everything many of the other books are not; easy to understand and covers most philosophical thought from the presocratic era to modern philosophers. If you want a really good introduction to philosophy then this book should be near the top of your possibles list.

Brilliant insight into great thinkers. A nice refresher book, however not great detail. But good value.

This was mis-sold with its title; it was OK for giving brief biographies of philosophers from the Western philosophical tradition, but it avoided anything outside of the West and only gave a brief view of what each philosopher worked on, without much of an explanation. For actual philosophy, go elsewhere.
