DK Workbooks: Science, Pre-K: Learn and Explore

I used this resource to engage my 2 and 4 y/o children to science. For my 4 y/o, it was easy for me to tweak the lessons if needed so that it would be more rigorous in order to help him foster a deeper internal understanding and form self to text connections. The science experiments were simple to follow as well. Overall, a good resource as a gentle introduction to science.

This is a really nice science workbook for the introduction of science. I bought it for my daughter for her 4th birthday and we are about 1/3 of the way through it already. She loves it, although the work is easy for her at this point. I still think this will be a good primer for more science books to come. In addition to simple 1 page lessons there are also easy, but fun, science experiments that the book guides you through. The reward stars are a great addition also. The pages are glossy though and not easy to write on with anything but a ball point pen, but that is really the only complaint I have and it's not that big of a deal for us as my daughter is so tired of coloring all the pictures in her workbooks anyways.

This little book is so much fun! We've had many different workbooks and this is the first book my daughter brings to me daily to do "homework". It's simple enough that my four year old can quickly understand and retain the concepts on a basic level. Yes, the lessons are not very detailed, but it will foster a sense of basic knowledge that you can expand upon later. Science is one of those categories often overlooked with small children, but it's so important to get a good foundation. Science is not always about projects and experiences. Science can be going to the zoo to discuss the animals or taking a walk to talk about the things we find in nature. This book can help get the conversation going.The book discusses things from the different animal types and habitats to the human body and solids and liquids. There are also a few experiments added in that you can easily complete at home. My only complaint is that I wish there were more pages.

Love that the book touch most of not all the pre k science topic. Very simple and easy worksheets and definition of each topic.

I am homeschooling my kindergarten age twins and this book is perfect for introducing science. I use it as a supplemental tool and guide to help me know what they should know for their age. I purchased both the pre-k and kindergarten edition. I use them daily and build on the lessons with other activities. Made my life so much easier. I didn’t want to purchase expensive curriculum for kindergarten age kids since most kindergarten classes aren’t heavy into science anyway. Everything they learn in science at this age is very basic and not worth hundreds of dollars. It works for me.

I bought this for my son, who is 5. He likes the book and it does cover a lot of subjects, but it doesn't seem to have the information or repetition in the workbook that I would have liked to see. This would be good as a supplement, but I wouldn't use it by itself.

I purchased this Science workbook as well as their Geography and Math workbook. My 3 year old LOVES doing them and the concepts are so easy to explain to her that she catches on quickly. I do a few pages with her and then go back and review everything over with her to see what she remembers and what we need to go over again. These workbooks are a huge help as she is home with me all day and I want to make sure she's ready and confident for pre-school when the time comes. She also loves the reward stickers which help keep her interested in doing page after page. A lot more engaging and hands on than most pre-k workbooks out there.

J'ai découvert cette collection il n'y a pas très longtemps et moi qui suis adepte de la pédagogie Montessori je trouve qu'elle est très proche. Je suis francophone, mais l'anglais ne pose pas de problème car les consignes sont très simples et explicites.Pour ne rien gâcher, les enfants adorent les étoiles dorées à coller une fois qu'ils ont réussi leur activité.
