Sound
The phone is decent and will get the job done but it is hard for other person to hear you when phone is on speaker. The volume button is very generic and only has two settings There is also no mute feature.

Zero stars. Do not get this phone. Waste of space and money.
This phone is terrible, do not buy. You have been warned. When you hit the hold button to place a caller on hold, this phone blares an annoying tune out of the phone itself, in the room where the phone is. Not just on the line for the caller on hold to hear but out of the base of the phone. Who would want that feature on a phone? Also you can not turn off the ringer on the phone. It is not an option. It is flimsy and feels like a toy. The clock on the phone only gives the option for a 24 hour clock. So, if you prefer military time than you will like the clock but if you prefer to see your caller ID let you know you had a call come in at 8:25 and not 20:25, then be aware of this. Also, the caller ID does not let you know who is calling for a call coming in on call waiting. There are a ton of other things about this phone that are either bad, weird, annoying or a some combination of those. I could go on but this phone has already taken up enough of my time. I will be returning this phone.

A pretty good phone for the desktop
Sometimes, you need a good landline phone for your office desk. This one gets it done nicely with a little setting up, and looks good doing it. The LCD display is easy to read from most angles. Once you learn how to assign numbers to the two memory slots and how to work the other functions, this thing is great. I needed something to conduct my personal business on other than a cellphone, and this one look sleek and professional. Sound is good and speaker is decent. The batteries serve only to allow the backlight to function, otherwise, everything seems to work without it if necessary. It actually feels good to have a proper land line installed again. I'm away. Just leave a message sucker.

It's Okay--You Get What You Pay For
The phone lasted four years, then died a gasping, staticky, barely audible death. Whether four years for around $29 is a worthwhile investment is an individual opinion. I won't buy it again. The quality of reception was adequate but nothing to rave about. I prefer to have a good quality, solid phone that has excellent voice quality and reception and that will last for many years (like the phone with which I grew up that was still going strong years after I was grown and had left home.) So many products are simply not built to last like they did in the olden days, alas. But for a cheap phone that will last a few years, it's okay.

corded phone
Works exactly as I needed it too. Like the back light makes it easier to see who is calling.

Can't turn the ringer off!!
I bought this phone thinking "adjustable ringer volume" meant you could turn the ringer off. Well, you can't. I bought the phone for the speakerphone and caller ID features. The speakerphone worked well, but the caller ID is hard to read. The illumination doesn't stay on and I couldn't figure out how to keep it on so I could read the caller ID without putting on my reading glasses. There's a calculator function which is completely useless. It probably works, but why would anyone use it? I couldn't even figure out how to set the date. The instructions in the manual are horribly written. And for some reason, when the phone connected to the landline, it showed the year as 2009 when it's supposed to show 2024.So, in the middle of discovering all these strange aspects of the phone, that's when I realized I couldn't turn the ringer completely off. It only goes from quieter rings to louder rings in 4 stages. There's no 'off' setting. That was the final straw. I get spam calls sometimes starting at 6:30 in the morning and continuing though the day until 7 PM. I have to be able to turn the ringer off in order to sleep during the night into the morning, and for naps.RETURNED for a refund.
