A local shop wanted $900 parts and labor to replace the struts and shocks on my wife's Grand Caravan. I got the same parts (these struts and monroe shocks for the rear) for about 1/3 their price on amazon (local auto parts stores were cheaper than the repair shop but still higher than amazon). Installation was pretty straight forward and took about 2 or 3 hours. Would have been about an hour but I stripped a nut and had to cut and replace a $10 stabilizer arm and grind off the bolt (adding an extra hour or so for a trip to the auto parts store). There was a little bit of a learning curve on the first side I tackled (including stripping that nut on the stabilizer arm) but the second side took me literally 15 minutes to swap out once I had the tire off. Another $70 for a professional alignment and I had in it about half the cost I would have paid a shop to do it (and their quote didn't include alignment). If you have some mechanical skills, a shop manual (or Haynes, Chilton, etc.), decent mechanics tools, and a torque wrench, this job is really pretty simple. An impact wrench doesn't hurt either but isn't necessary (and might save you from stripping a nut <sheepish grin>. The van sits an inch higher and rides so much better...probably like new but that was 70k miles ago so I guess I'd forgotten what that felt like. Very happy with this product. Great price, relatively simple install, and excellent performance.

My Dodge Grand Caravan needed a strut replacement. The auto shop was going to charge me over $500 to replace it. I'm too much of a tight-wad to pay something I feel that I can do myself. I was preparing myself for a daunting task, but then on Youtube I found out about this strut. It was a lifesaver; plus it doesn't cost that much more than a strut without a spring. I was able to remove the old strut and replace it with this on in less than 1 hour. (You spend more time jacking up the car and finding the right tools.) Having the two struts side-by-side it is easy to see that the Monroe strut is much better quality. The greatest thing is that there is no compressing the spring - on either strut! Just pop one out and put the other in. Simple. I would recommend this part to anyone, even if you only have a small experience with auto mechanics.

Only reason this isn't rated 5 stars is because its hard to "love" car parts. Exactly as described, easy order, quick delivery. Includes the needed hardward for installation. No mods required. Word to the would-be DIYers...this requires muscle and several special tools to remove and replace in your driveway. You may also need an alignment when you're done or else the $ you saved by doing the job yourself will be wasted on worn tires. I had (or bought) everything I needed but probably won't have a lot of use for everything unless I do this again on another Dodge. (It also gave me an excuse to be outta the house for several hours - something I desparately needed at the time!)

Installed Monroe Quick-Struts 171572R and L on 2006 Chrysler T&C minivan. The install was fairly easy and I had my work checked out during the re-alignment - All good. I noticed more body roll, but still a good ride for the first two months. The ride became increasingly softer, allowing more body roll, and also became lower. The vehicle now scrapes at every parking curb and going in and out of driveways - never happened before. Cornering has become substandard. Take note of the smaller diameter of the coil spring as compared with the original - it's noticeable just by looking at it. It becomes mushy very fast. This product should NOT be used for the 2006 Chrysler T&C minivan. It's been a VERY FAST DECLINE IN PERFORMANCE and now at almost 6 months of use, I am ready to find an OEM replacement that works like the originals. Original struts lasted 9 years. Seemed like a good idea to install the Quick Strut, but it hasn't performed well after the first 60 days. I've done lots of car work - Be safe and FIND A BETTER PRODUCT.UPDATE - Recently replaced with Moog ST8561R and ST8561L Strut and Coil Spring Assembly - these are definitely the BETTER PRODUCT. Ride height restored, body roll reduced, great ride overall. Noticeably heavier coils (a good thing!). Highly recommend going with the MOOG strut assembly for this installation. Very happy with these.

This product is garbage. The left side didn't even last one week.

Terrible product ... if there is a 0 star rating i would rate it .... Monroe dump their scrap / defective products off the assembly line at amazon website .. my advise DON'T take the risk i took
