Firestarter!
I've never owned a ferro rod firestarter before this one so I really don't have anything else to compare it too. What I can tell you is that, as a total noob, I had no problem getting a fire started with this. Yes, you need to scrape off the black coating to get it to work. But that is the same for any of these black coated ferro rods. The included striker made things super easy. I got lots of good sparks and got my tinder bundle lit with no trouble. It worked like a champ. Size was nice and it was easy to hold. Nice touch with the included Paracord lanyard.

Nice size
Works every time and is a nice size, none of that silly micro crapp that is difficult to hold on to

WORTH IT
Works fairly well. It can throw a good Spark about a foot away, when the striker grabs which may take 1-3 strikes

I'd recommend
I bought several of these for bug out bags and camping. They work pretty good I'd recommend buying some to put them in your own survival kits.

Tremendous sparker
As we know we all need an alternative way to make fire when your lighter is not working. This rod is small enough to fit in a backpack easily. Simple and easy to use, a great value for the money. Shower spark like a grinder. It weighs a non noticeable amount even in your pocket. It should be very durable.

It works
I had never tried a ferro rod before, with the exception of a very small one on a keychain. Did not have much luck with that. I hope never to be in a situation that I need to build a fire to survive but it is better to prepare. I have been practicing with it for a few days and can now, with perfect tinder, usually start a fire in two or three strikes. I went fishing the other day and tried to start a fire in a grill using what i could find. That was my first fire with out modern help, with the exception of the ferro rod. I now know that even with my age and arthritic claws for hands I can start a fire if needed. This is a great tool to keep with you at all times.

Creates Hot & Strong Sparks w/the right Striker
This Ferro Rod is thick (1/2”) and the 6” length is more than I needed. I have successfully made terrific sparks from Gerber, the Dimes & Clutches even, & Leatherman tools as well as various fixed and folding knife blades. If neither the Gerber or Leatherman have blades that produce sparks their respective files or plier jaws generally work great. As to the knife steel, 1095 and D2 work very well. I only use the spine of my knives. Some brands that work well are Camillus’ Titanium DDR folder, Omesio Neck Knife, Buck Folder, and other not very expensive knives but do have the right amount of carbon. I hope this helps. Finally, I’m not an expert at bush-crafting but I’ve found a few things that work well to create good, strong sparks and I wanted to share a regular guy’s findings. Stay safe and well.

The Kaseamu Ferro Rods (1/2 inch x 6 inch) is a fantastic product. The build quality is solid and durable, and it produces strong, consistent sparks exactly as expected. It feels reliable and well-made (solid), making it perfect for outdoor, camping, survival, or emergency use. I am also very happy with the seller and Amazon service. The product was delivered before the expected delivery date, which was a pleasant surprise and shows great commitment to customer satisfaction. The packaging was secure, and the product arrived in perfect condition.
