Informative
Although the fly patterns outlined in the book were both creative and productive, they were previously reviewed in a prior article in FLYFISHERMAN magizine. Someone with his experience and talent are certainly going to help anyone become a better fisherman, but I felt that his fly recipe's bordered on the promotion of his fly tying material business, almost to the point of being shameless! CERTAINLY THE BOOK WILL MAKE ONE A BETTER FLY ANGLER, but I'm not convinced that any tyer's materials are now in need of replacement by his material recomendations.

Interesting Coffee Table Book, Lacks substance
The book is well written and beautifully executed. For an advanced tier not needing to learn advanced techniques, it may serve as a pattern resource. For an intermediate or beginning tier, Eric Leiser's Complete Book of Fly Tying is a more useful resource.I have both of Harrop's books now. Here is the thing that baffles me about Harrop: As a tier, the pattern he is most famous for, AFAIK, is his no-hackle ties, which have been much photographed through the decades. I can not figure out why he does not publish his no-hackle technique. It has almost become the Coca Cola recipe of fly tying. What is the big deal? Is he really going to leave that question open as part of his legacy?

GOOD insight to the Fork.
I received this bookl as a gift because I will be fishing Henry's fork this fly fishing season. As a technical Delaware River fly fisherman, I've been told that there is a comparison to the Railroad Ranch On the Henry's Fork. This book gave me some keen insight on how to approach it and how I may need to adjust m,y methods and flies.

Very nice companion to Trouthunter
While I was reluctant to order this book as I feared it be a rehash of Harrop's first book, I am very happy I went and ordered it despite my suspicions. The book is very well done, with more photos, details on flies, anecdotes and suggestions for fishing for selective trout that expand and add to his first book consiedrably. Nicely done and recommended.

Informative and well written.
Great book! A must read for those of us who fish waters that we know hold big trout, but we just can't seem to fool them. Harrop explains the habits of large trout, how to stalk them and how to present the fly. He also explains the stages of bugs they eat during a hatch. This book will help arm any fly fisher with knowlege to catch more and bigger trout.

Solid Book
Just finished this book. A real nice read. I've read alot of books over my 13 year addiction to this sport and this ranks right up there. Harrop definitely is a legend as both a flyfisher and tyer. The pix he includes of his CDC flies are awesome. Good info also for a new fisherman to help speed up the learning curve.

Strategies and flies for catching selective trout on clear, slow moving streams.
This book provides the most recent thinking on flies and fly fishing on slow moving streams and selective trout. Many of the fly patterns make use of CDC, which has become an important part of wet and dry flies.
