We have always had a problem with keeping some fresh foods from spoiling in a short time. Foods like strawberries, blueberries, and mushrooms were lucky to last 5 days before getting moldy or mushy or slimy. This item works perfectly. Items last weeks now instead of days. Inexpensive and will save you many times more than its cost.

The Whirlpool W11462816 Genuine OEM Produce Preserver Starter Kit helps make produce last longer in the refrigerator. I was pretty skeptical about whether this product would work before I installed it. I buy strawberries at the store and it would seem like they were bad a few days after I put them in the refrigerator. I installed this kit in the produce drawer and I have noticed that the strawberries do indeed last longer. We are talking more days longer than weeks but it has made them last longer without going bad. I will be buying new filters when these go bad.

The principle behind this is sound. These foods give off ethylene which can speed up the spoiling process including foods around it; so this thing absorbs that released ethylene in part and reduces the exposure the food gets to ethylene. So the food spoils slower. I remember when there were those plastic containers that were suppose to do the same thing, but unlike those this you just replace the pouch when its unable to absorb more gas and you're going to continue to help slow your food loss.This kit is going to cover you for a year and then replacement filters are here on amazon for less than 7$ each which will last you 6 months. So after the first year it's only around 1$/month to help your food last a bit longer. If it slows me down throwing out veggies by even 20% it pays for itself several times over per year.Installed easily enough and after 3 months it's still stuck where I put it. My status indicator reads about 1/2 way which is what I would expect time wise. Inexpensive investment to help save money and keep fresher food on hand.

This was very easy to install, and it works as intended. I waited several months to see how the produce would keep, specifically fruit, and it was seemingly indefinite. There are two aspects here that allow it to stay well preserved, the first improvement was switching over to a refrigerator that used a inverter compressor so that it didn't have high and low temp spikes. I noticed a huge improvement in longevity for several items I keep in the refrigerator and that included fruit. This preserver kit extended it further... I am not sure if I am going to see it go bad as we are not able to keep fruit around that long because we eat it. So I am happy to have this around. Moreover, 6 dollars is the cost of replacement inserts from what I saw, and a pack of two lasts 6 months and I did not see my fruit go bad in the time since I installed this, which has actually saved us money in fruit costs. I can get more now, and it keeps longer now. Weird item I never thought I needed but actually helps more than I ever anticipated.

The fruit goes bad because it gives off ethylene which ripens it beyond edible quality.This Whirlpool produce preserver is a very small but mighty product that you can add to your fridge. The starter kit comes with a plastic housing for two filters (also included) and a status indicator that tells you when it’s time to replace the filers.This product is super easy to assemble. Just open the housing, remove the filters from their individual bags and slide them into the housing. Then press down on the indicator to activate it and slide it into the housing too. Finally, close up the unit and use the attached suction cups to attach to the inside of your fridge. There are instructions with pictures, but it’s very simple.You can readily buy replacement filters.I like estate this has a small form factor so it doesn’t take up much room, and that it will work in any brand of fridge.Before I got this, I didn’t realize that there were some fruit like grapes and bananas that give off ethylene and other produce that is sensitive to the ethylene. There’s a full chart on the listing,I haven’t had great luck with hanging this in the fridge, but have better luck just placing it inside my produce drawer. It does seem to extend the life of our produce.This seems to be a good value, even though the filters will need to be replaced at a biyearly cost. To me that is easily more than the price of produce we have been throwing away.

I got this to use in my fruit drawer because my organic fruit was molding so quickly. I’m not sure if this makes the fruit last longer? The fruit still molds fairly quickly. For the price, I would say it’s worth a shot for you to try and see for your self.

This produce life extender is incredibly easy to use! I did initially have a difficult time getting the suction cups to stick to the wall of my refrigerator, but once I added a little water to the cups and pressed firmly they stayed put. I have noticed my produce is lasting longer now (no I didn't document the # of days), but that stuff is is expensive so this thing is worth every penny!
