The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg Handcooked Lightly Salted Virginia Peanuts, 32-Ounce Tins (Pack of 2)

(THIS IS AN UPDATED REVIEW, WRITTEN ON 11 FEB 2013, OF THE REVIEW I SUBMITTED A YEAR AGO!!) Since submitting this review over a year ago, I have faithfully enjoyed the superior quality of Peanut Shop of Williamsburg peanuts. Only once did I "stray from the fold," and ordered some Feridies peanuts recently from Amazon. I committed a grievous error in doing so. In retrospect, I realize I should have not been so quick to submit an Amazon review, extolling Feridies as being even better than Williamsburg: this was a "snap-to-judgment" decision on my part which was clearly erroneous. I now recognize that Feridies is NOT nearly as delicious a brand as is Williamsburg, and my recent receipt of another order of Williamsburg nuts -- which I have used as a comparative taste-testing with Feridies nuts I still have in my cupboard -- has re-substantiated my firm belief that Williamsburg nuts are simply the very, very best peanuts you can buy. As a result, I returned to my recent Amazon review of Feridies, and downgraded my grading of that brand from 5 stars to 3 stars. As for Williamsburg peanuts, if i could give them a grade of 10 stars, I would do so: they are that good, and I shall never deviate from purchasing them again! They are, as noted above, unquestionably THE BEST peanuts. Period.(PREVIOUS REVIEW, FROM JAN 2012). I am a hard-core aficionado of peanuts. In the shell at baseball games and football games; salted and unsalted; and all varieties and all manufacturers. I eat peanuts every single night. I have tried virtually ever popular brand out there, from mundane Planter's to Costco's Virginia, to Aunt Ruby's. No other type or brand of peanut can begin to compare with these. They are almost impossibly delicious.I shall order these from Amazon FOREVER.As usual, Amazon rocks!

I bought both the Royal Oak and The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg VA peanuts to find out which I liked better. I found that both are large fancy peanuts that are of better quality than those found in supermarkets. The Williamsburg peanuts have a heavier salt coating than the Royal Oak brand. The Royal Oak peanuts are slightly larger, dryer, and crunchier. The Royal Oak version comes in 40 oz. tins versus The Peanut Shop's 32 oz. tins. I am pleased with both brands, and I would be pleased to receive either as a gift. I like the taste of The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg brand slightly better, because my personal preference is for a saltier, more traditional, roasted peanut. The Royal Oak's are crunchier and larger, almost like dry roast peanuts. Both brands are satisfying and addictive. YOUR personal preference will dictate which YOU like better. Both are excellent products, which are well worth buying. Recommended.

Oh man these are the best peanuts i have ever had. I first tried these at my family members house and went straight home and bought these. I am a huge peanut fan and once i tried these i said to myself i will never buy another nut. it is very delicious and very addicting. I love how fresh they are and how big the nut is. I highly recommend you buy these if you want to change your life for the better. They are amazing!!!I realize how important a good review is to a buyer. I give honest and heart felt reviews on products that a purchase and receive. I base most of my purchases on reviews so I understand that it is fair to be completely honest on reviews. That being said I hope this review will help a buyer with his or her decision to buy or not buy this product.

Some vendors sell this exact packaging but the product is definitely NOT the same as what The Peanut Shop sells in Williamsburg. These come closest among those I have tried elsewhere (Bed Bath and Beyond's are especially disappointing). It troubles me that all of them, including what is sold in Williamsburg, have identical labeling and description. I would like to know that what Amazon sells is the same as what the Shop sells in Williamsburg. While these appear to be, many of the nuts are less than the claimed "jumbo" peanuts for which the Shop is famous.

I bought a tin of these nuts at their retail store and was blown away! Big meaty nuts with just the right touch of salt. The ones I bought through Amazon, although freah, tasty, and very good are a notch below the nuts I got at the store. I will be buying these again through Amazon as the family loves them, and it faster than driving to Virginia:-)

Best peanuts ever!

Received the product quickly from Amazon. First, I muust say that I've bought gourmet peanuts from many suppliers. These peanuts are good but do not rate as the best I've had. The advantage comes as a slight lower price than the best. If you want to save a little $ then this product is a good choice. I'm hooked on the best though so I may not purchase these again. My rating: 3 out of 5.

My wife and I had the same response to our first taste: it was as if we had never before had a real peanut. Williamsburg has managed to capture the essence of the nut. I can't say either of us were peanut aficionados, but these peanuts have changed that, weird as that sounds. If you think, as I have my entire life, peanuts are dull and boring, try these.
