Versatile features normally found in more expensive lights
This is my first photography light--and it's a game changer! In the month or so I've had it, I've achieved results previously out of reach for me. (See sample shots). It's lightweight (made of plastic), but it doesn't feel "cheap"--the plastic is durable and good quality. It comes with a wire--so I can connect it to AC power. It comes with a nylon zipper case with foam cutout so I can tote my light around safely. The diffuser works nicely giving me nice soft light. It's got a U-bracket, with a tightening knob so once I get the light aimed where I want it, I can lock it off. The light itself isn't too big either--so it doesn't get in the way.On the back of the light is a little illuminated control panel with some up/down arrows on a little touch-screen. One set of up/down arrows is for light brightness. The other set is for light temperature. It goes from a warm yellow light to a cold blueish light. The light intensity ranges from relatively dim to scorchingly bright. (Remember this is my first light--so I don't have anything to compare it to--but when I first lit it up, my family yelled at me to turn the brightness down, as it hurt their eyes). The screen displays the "temperature" numbers in Kelvin, and the brightness numbers as well--so if you know the brightness and temperature you need for a particular shot, you can dial it in.The light itself is comprised of a bunch of little LEDs--so it never gets hot. That's a bonus in my opinion. That's it for what the kit comes with. Now--I'll talk about what the kit doesn't come with.It doesn't come with a light stand. Rather than buy the Falcon Eyes light stand, I saved a few bucks and bought the "Neewer 75"/6 Feet/190CM Photography Light Stands for Relfectors, Softboxes, Lights, Umbrellas, Backgrounds". The light fits perfectly onto it--like it was made for it.Batteries not included. And in my opinion, these are a "MUST". So--I bought the "NP-F550 RAVPower Battery Charger for Sony NP F970, F750, F770, F960, F550, F530, F330, F570, CCD-SC55, TR516, TR716, TR818, TR910, TR917 and more (2-Pack Replacement Battery Kit, Dual Slot Charger)". That's a lot of words--but basically, it's a two-battery kit that comes with a dual battery charger. And if I ever get a Sony camera, I'll have spare batteries already! Actually, I've never used the AC adapter that came with the light--I've only ever used it with my batteries. I like being cord-free.There's no gels or barn doors. So--since this is my first light, and I'm not a "pro" photographer or anything, I decided not having gels or barn doors wasn't a show stopper. Besides, this isn't the sort of light that you'd use as a spotlight--it's got a built-in diffuser, so I'm not sure how barn doors would be of benefit. I guess I could tape gels to it if I really wanted to, or improvise some old cardboard as barn doors if I really wanted to.Sample shot #1 -- My daughter was my "lighting technician", and held the light so I could photograph my son at dusk in a local park.Sample shot #2 -- Shot of my son at dusk in a local park.Sample shot #3 -- Outdoor shot of some friends standing under a tree on a dark, overcast, rainy day. (My daughter was my "lighting technician" again, same as previous shots.)Overall, I'm really happy with this light, and highly recommend it. It's lightweight and has features usually found in more expensive lights.

Very impressive design and function! Perfect for our video product reviews. Priced right!
Very impressed with both the performance and the build quality of this diffused LED light system. Well packaged during shipping and comes with a very nice soft carry case, with foam cutout internally that fits the light and AC power brick. The AC power brick is compatible with 100v-240, 50/60 Hz. That means you can take this to virtually any country without an issue and use AC power.Operation of the light is a breeze, with controls for color warmth (3000-5500K) and intensity (in percentage). If you have two of these lights, and they are on the same channel, one light can control both...or even more. The maximum intensity is sufficient for OUR needs, but some may need even brighter models...and Falcon Eyes does have bigger, brighter, and more expensive models of the same design. The power cord 4ft from the light to the power brick, and then another 10ft from the brick to the outlet. Excellent! The light will also operate with Sony-type NP-F*** batteries. There are plenty of those battery and charger options available here on Amazon at varied prices, power, and charging methods. The light will fit on any light stand securely.Very pleased with this purchase, and likely to add a second unit...maybe even a third in the coming weeks. HIGHLY recommended!

Flexible, soft, quality light, but not super bright.
I give this four stars mainly because of the price to feature ratio. It is however not terribly bright. More on that later.PROS1. The fact that it can operate by battery is awesome. Makes it very easy to do quick setups without having cables draped all over the place.2. The color temperature adjustment feature is great; it's always nice to be able to lock white balance on your camera for the ambient light, then add some extra with a light like this and choose to make it warmer or cooler.3. The controls on the back of the light are easy to use and responsive. I was actually surprised at how nicely they work.4. The soft front panel means you don't have to diffuse it. Diffusion will easily cost you a stop or tow of light, but you don't have to worry about that here.5. The price is fair.CONS (just one)1. It's not very bright. Compared to a Genaray (about 70% more money) or an Aputure (a whole lot more money), this is quite dark. It's nearly three stops darker (that's nearly ⅛ the brightness, or the others are 8x as bright) than either of the two I compared to, BUT again with the diffusion already built in, assuming you were going to diffuse the other lights, you aren't that far off. However for bare-bulb brightness, it just isn't that bright. If you're looking for a small, lightweight light that you can put close to the subject and get a nice soft light form it, then go for it. I think it's a good choice. If you're looking for maximum brightness, and/or can't get the light super close to your subject (i.e. you want a wider shot so the light is out of frame), you'll need either multiples of these, or something brighter.

FalconEyes SO-28TD Led Software Light

Great soft light except...
Overall this is a great soft light, and mostly consisting of a great build quality, but it has two weak points. In the first two days I had the light, the two screws that hold the cheap plastic yoke joint fell out on the floor (it appears they were over-tightened and stripped the plastic material on assembly during manufacturing). As a result, the cheap plastic joint came away from the light and now I have to somehow build my own bracket to be able to use the light at all. I cannot recommend this light at all until the plastic joints are replaced with metal ones from the factory.
