Excellent product that work! Just plug in power, only downside is clarity on software

Works great for depth detection.

I like the thing and am using it for obstacle avoidance on a small rover. I seriously wish the display had a monochrome mode. The heat map is distracting when looking for small differences. Obviously, the software interface doesn't care.

This is a very cheap depth sensor that looks like it has enough resolution for small robots. Unfortunately there is a lot of speckle (depth noise) such that segmentation for manipulation becomes difficult. The attached image is taken at about 180mm above a table (yes, it images that close) of a 20mm block and a 60mm bottle. The bottle is fairly clear (despite edge artifacts) but the block gets lost in the burble. However this sensor is good for spotting people up to 2m away since the depth differences are much starker.Revised: The images can be cleaned up substantially with post-processing. This is a remarkable device for the price. Just power it up and "see" in 3-D depth on the builtin lcd.
