The key to making your carb replacement seamless
I have a nice Honda lawnmower that we didnt have to use for the last couple of years thanks to the landscaper however it didnt make much sense to let it sit so I thought I'd get it running and give it to my son (who is just buying his first house). It wouldnt start so after the usual - new fuel, carb clean, new plug, etc and still getting nowhere I purchased this carburetor so I could repair it myself. If you have even the most basic skills you can do this even if like me your specialty is not small engine repair. I was able to get the old one off, the new one on and the mower back up and running in less than an an hour and that includes double checking my work and testing before I put everything 100% back together. The instructions were easy but there are some online videos that make it a cake walk. The one 'off book' recommendation I received was to also replace the Thermo Wax at the same time which was the right call. I had no idea that this part existed but after watching some of the videos online it was pretty clear that this was the key to success. Purchased the carb, and this Thermowax assembly for less than $40 in parts and I had a great mower up and running in record time. It has been running just fine since - no issues and I could not be happier with the decision to give this a shot myself instead of pay someone to replace it at "retail lawnmower repair" rates. Absolutely worth the time and money.

Solved my problems
I have a lawnmower with a Honda GCV160 engine. Middle of last years mowing season several different problems were noted and they seemed to alternate as time progressed. First it failed to start (1-2 pulls) as it always had (choke not closing). Then sometimes it would "load up" as though too much gasoline was getting into the engine (choke not opening). Tried a new spark plug - no change. Did some research on youtube and several folks were saying a "thermo wax" failure could cause the problems I was experiencing. My belief is that sometimes the "pin" in the end would not protrude as the engine warms (this OPENS the choke, otherwise too much gasoline) and other times it would stick with the "pin" protruding (this means NO CHOKE - hard start).BTW - Testing this before I installed it, I ran it and the OEM under 160F hot water. The OEM WOULD move, this one would not. Then I used a heat gun (could reach 1000F) and this thermo wax worked properly. Lesson ? - If you want to test this before installing, use some heat source greater than the hot water that comes out of your tap -- match, lighter, etc. (Maybe boiling water would work, but I didn't try that.)In conclusion, this seems to have fixed the problems I was having. First start of the season and it almost ran on the 1st pull -- second pull, it fired up and ran as smooth as it had when brand new. Very satisfied.

Did not work or fit well
It did not push the pin out when the engine heats up like it should. The mower started great when cold but would not start if the engine was warm or hot. It failed after only using it a couple of times. It also did not fit well and had a very hard time to push it in.I ended up buying a genuine Honda part which installed very easily and also worked perfectly.

Works great
It was tough getting the old one out. A little WD did the trick. This one works great.
