Good stability device for elderly mom
My elderly mom needed a strong support by her chair that she likes to sit in. This gave her a solid grip and has been beneficial with helping her to stand up which she had a difficult time of because she's lost a great deal of upper body strength. It's rated a 4 because there were some things that might make it even better that the manufacturer might consider. I'd give it a 41/2 star but not possible.

A real help
I purchased this for my mother in law after she broke her collarbone and was in a sling for 8 weeks. This made her able to get out of her chair unassisted by a caretaker. Gives somebody, with the use of only arm, the ability to get themselves moving. The other really nice thing about it is its very sturdy, and it doesn't need to go all the way the the ceiling. You can set the height and direction of the cane itself. It's a purchase I'm very happy to have made.

Great
If it is on a rug this works best

Very sturdy
Very sturdy, helps me get up without too much difficulty. I only gave it 4 stars because it's too heavy to move to another chair. It's not really portable. I would totally love it if there was a way to move it to other chairs, too expensive to buy more. But it's still a keeper!

Sturdy cane; easy to assemble; great for providing that extra help to stand up
I was surprised when I first picked up the box containing the cane and base - it was fairly heavy (the assembly weighs a little over 14 pounds). This weight translated into a strong, sturdy cane and base combination that just gives the feeling of providing safe and secure assistance when you're getting up or sitting down.It was very easy to put together - the directions were straightforward with good illustrations, components slid together easily, and there were only three large screws (and another three set screws) needed to complete assembly. The two Allen wrenches required were included in the box.The base can go under the chair legs on either side of the chair, and can be placed in one of three different positions, depending on where the cane itself works best for you. Getting it into position can be done by one person, depending on strength and mobility, but you'd find it easier with two. There is one thing that I found annoying and I do consider it to be a deficiency, though not anything that should prevent someone from buying this product - it should come with matching pads to put under the other two chair legs. The base of the assembly is a good 1/4" to 3/8" thick. It's not much, and I imagine that a lot of people simply wouldn't notice that one side of the chair is slightly higher than the other. But I did. My solution was to buy a set of pads for $5 (the cheap "sliders" are about the right thickness) and use two of them under the other legs. Works great. The cane itself is fantastic. It's sturdy, and given the design, you can really pull yourself up when standing up. You can also use it to gently sit down into the chair. For those of us that need a little help, this is a great solution.

Heay Duty
This review is for the following item: Able Life Universal Chair Cane, Stand Assist Aid for Elderly, Chair Lift Assistance Device for Seniors, Standing Mobility Aid and Support, Adjustable Couch Rail with Grab Bar, Handicapped AccessoryThis is a great item to have if you are having difficulty getting up off the couch or chair. This chair cane is heavy, nothing seems cheap about it at all. You will need to measure the distance between the front and back legs of the furniture you are going to be using it under. That way the metal pads will fit properly under the legs of the furniture. Once the couch is sitting on those metal pads, the chair can is going nowhere.I pulled hard on this cane to stand up. It didn't budge. I felt confident it was going to stay in place. I tried to wiggle it side to side and again it was sturdy and barely moved. If you assemble this and do not place it under the legs/feet of the furniture it will not be steady or sturdy at all. So please make sure you follow the instructions and use it safely.I feel this is a great item for someone who is recovering from surgery, or maybe just needs assistance to stand up from the couch or chair. It gives you that independence that we all enjoy. This item might seem a bit pricey, but once you have it and see how well made it is, and how sturdy it is, the cost is good.I am happy with this furniture cane and it definitely will be getting a lot of use.
