As of July 2018 all of my Eastern Star SD DVD releases have been tested and proved to be UK Region 2 Coded (Region Free meaning 1-8 or 1-6).I've bought many older retro anime series and films like Lupin III (Films, TV Specials, Part I & Part II on SD DVD but absolutely not Part IV), Samurai Pizza Cats, etc. All have been tested upon arrival and been Region Free and not Region 1 locked at all.This unfortunately does not apply to other Discotek Media labels or divisions and sadly UK anime fans should expect Discotek Media/Eastern Star Blu-ray Disc titles to be Region A (locked) in most instances (as is the case with this film - see below for details).So Ryko Distribution titles would be expected to be Region 1 locked, etc. However, Eastern Star Standard-Definition DVDs should be OK in UK players PCs and games consoles in my experience.The company recently started moving towards SD-Blu-ray Discs with large series being in SD but on Region A locked USA Blu-ray rather than the bulkier DVD sets. It truly is the end of an era!! My players, recorders and drives are Multi-Region 1-8 for SD DVD but Region B standard for Blu-ray Discs, thus not fully multi-region!!!!For anime fans of a certain age Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie is a beloved psychological action-packed drama with that amazing English language score by Cory Lerios & John D'Andrea plus a host of early nineties artists signed to Sony Music Entertainment (Korn, Silverchair, Alice in Chains etc.). Just in case you were wondering, the Japanese music is painful to listen to in comparison and in my opinion it sounded dated even back then [1994].This is vastly superior to Steven E. de Souza's poor-man's knock-off James Bond wanna be 'Hollywood' movie released here in May of the following year.  Street Fighter: The Ultimate Battle [1994] - Extreme Edition [NTSC] [Region Free] [Blu-ray] [US Import] [2009 ] That said, I still enjoy them both for what they are and not what the money-men hoped they'd be. Capcom still made a profit though so we shouldn't fell too badly for them!I still find it funny that the English voice actors are credited under pseudonyms e.g. Bryan Cranston credited as Phil Williams voiced Fei Long and Tom Wyner credited as Phil Matthews voiced M. Bison (as if we couldn't tell that it was him), etc.There are at least four slightly different versions of this film. All UK and most USA SD DVDs feature 'faded', 'soft' looking non-anamorphic transfers.The old 'Special DVD Edition' released in October of 2001 contained the uncensored English dub (5.1 UK UNCUT audio) and was mostly unedited sans Chun-Li's bottom in the shower scene (ASIN: B00005M6RH & EAN: 5022366200448). This 2001 SD DVD release contained a number of subtitle options - English Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Portuguese and Swedish.The February 2007 Manga 2-Disc DVD set (ASIN:B000M06GMY & EAN: 5022366505345) had previously been about as truly 'uncut' as UK fans could get. The UK Disc 1 English 5.1 track is the USA uncensored audio without Guile's F-Bomb whereas the English 2.0 track features the UK uncensored audio with the aforementioned F-Bomb in place. I've given up comparing the Chun-Li scene everyone talks about because the changes are minimal. Disc 2 has the true uncut Japanese master again with the choice of 2.0 or 5.1 audio with English subtitles.In the past bloody scenes may have been toned-down 'colourful' language replaced or removed and the infamous Chun-Li shower scene re-cut in a number of different ways (for brief full-body nudity and the shot of her rear-end).Years of waiting for UK collectors in Region B saw a small reward for their patience in the form of Kaze/Manga's 2013 HD Blu-ray (ASIN: B00BFDXY2W & EAN: 3700091027364) which was great if you liked the original language but not so much if the 'classic' English dub was your thing. This put a lot of people off buying it in HD, including myself! Due to French label Kaze opting to source the censored English dub on our shared UK/French Blu-ray Disc I cannot in good conscience recommend the 2013 UK HD Blu-ray to anyone other than subtitled anime fans. No uncut English dub, no sale!! It just isn't for me. No thanks!Customers who own a fully Multi-Region (DVD 1-8 & Blu-ray A, B, C) player and who are therefore not subject to the usual concerns the rest of us physical media collectors have, may wish to purchase the Region A Locked (not Region B UK compatible) American October 2016 Eastern Star (Discotek Media) Blu-ray Disc. It would seem to include everything a person could need (supposedly - but I don't own this one).UNCUT Japanese Version of the film: Japanese LPCM 2.0 Stereo, English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 (US unrated), English LPCM 2.0 stereo (UK unrated), English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo (PG-13 rated), English LPCM 2.0 Stereo (with Japanese score), English signs subtitles, full English subtitles for the Japanese version with Japanese character names and finally full English subtitles for the Japanese version with International/English character names.US PG-13 CENSORED Version of the film: English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo (with English score), English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo (with Japanese score).Note: Region A Locked. Fully Multi-Region Blu-ray Disc Player Required. As anime goes, if you grew up in the 90s (as I did) - Street Fighter II is a classic! I'm not going to spoil the story in the film, but it ties in great with the Street Fighter mythos and all your favourite characters are here. Of course, Ryu is the main character but the underlying story arcs involving Guile and Chun-Li are great and each character is very well rounded in terms of dialogue. The soundtrack is bad-ass too, featuring the likes of Korn, Alice In Chains, Silverchair and KMFDM - all of which add to the 'fight' atmosphere. This is recommended viewing in my book. 10/10!I reccomend you go for the Special Collector's Edition - you get the English dub of the movie (which is fully uncut) and the Japanese dub on a seperate disc. Talk about bonus! Pick it up before it disappears for years again!

A love letter to the game and one of the best animated films I have ever had the pleasure of watching. I can’t believe how good it actually is. On the box reads the words ‘vastly superior to its Hollywood counterpart.’ Yes, I think that is probably putting in lightly! Captures the magic of the games and the reason so many love tbe series. Alice in Chains as part of the soundtrack too! Does it get any better? Characterisation is superb, particularly Ken Masters and Ryu. Their relationship is explored through a series of flashbacks etc. and I love the bond they share. Would I recommend? Without a doubt! Just don’t let the Hollywood version of this film steal the joy for the franchise you may feel. This film for me affirms that joy and I look forward to watching it again soon.

THIS IS NOT UNCENSORED PLUS THE HD TRANSFER IS SHARP BUT DARK AND SATURATED BUT STILL A NOTCH UP FROM THE DVD VERSION. THE REASON THIS IS NOT UNCENSORED IS BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL ENGLISH DUB. INSTEAD IT HAS THE KID FRIENDLY NO CUSSING AUDIO TRACK ON INSTEAD AND THE MUSIC HAS BEEN FIDDLED WITH (CHECK OUT THE VEGA AND CHUNLI FIGHT) AND YOULL KNOW WHAT I MEAN. IS IT TOO MUCH TOO ASK TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL AUDIO ON A HD TRANSFER

It's not the uncensored English dub. I searched for the key lines in the film, vega's "you bitch, i'll make you suffer", and Guiles heart transplant suggestion Bison and both were missing. Vega's line was change to the less agressive, "you witch...". Personally, I feel the exclusion of the original language ruined the feel and intensity of the fight scenes. If you were familar with the uncensored English dub of the original release you'd know what I mean here.Otherwise the animation and hd upscale were good.The product was packaged well, and product was in good condition on arrival.
