Plants love these
I live in the desert where it's very dry. If I didn't have these watering helpers I'd be watering much more than 7-10 days! I use wine bottles and think it's cute. Much better than a drip system for sure. When it rains, the soil in the pot gets wet, so the water doesn't leach thru the spikes, unlike a drip system. The plants where I use these are very healthy. I do not soak them first, and I dig a hole where I want them BC the terra cotta is thin and can break easily...so be very gentle!

Saves your plants when it's hot
I used these around my peppers and tomatoes during the peek in temps in Iowa. I watered but always kept the bottles I had in these filled. My plants produced like crazy and stayed happy and healthy. Going to purchase more

Leaks water fast
The water seems to just pour through these fast. It doesn't really hold enough water for my use in my indoor house plants. I couldn't see these being used in any outdoor situation.

Terra cotta waterers
They keep the soil moist longer

Could these be thinner and more breakable?
I ordered 2 four-packs. One was cracked, one was crushed. As I pushed them into the dirt, two more broke, but are still usable. I have four that came from a garden store years ago and through heat and freeze, they’re still fine. I couldn’t find any except on amazon, and These are crap. But returning anything to amazon has become a nightmare, I hear. Just try to find them elsewhere!
