Halo-halo any one?
My mom used to have a version of this ice shaver when I was a kid and I vividly remember cutting my finger on it >.<. Lol, as distasteful as that memory is, I still crave a sweet and refreshing treat that is light and is NOT ice cream--it's flipping hot here in AZ! I remembered how delicious a bit of shaved ice and condensed milk could be (if anyone frequents a local MeetFresh or Filipino restaurant with Halo-Halo, you know what I mean) this is perfect for you. Quit trying to make protein ice cream or whatever whipped crushed ice mixture is the new craze on Youtube, you don't need a fancy blender or Ninja Creami to try to mimic ice cream. I've tried those all, I give up on trying to replicate gelato/ice cream (if I want it, I treat myself while at a restaurant but I no longer buy it for the house). Now I just go for a healthier alternative, enter: shaved ice (there is a difference between shaving and crushing ice, believe me), sugar-free syrup and a bit of condensed milk--my quick go-to's. If you want to get extra fancy with it (or want more of a treat) heap on sweetened red beans, grass jelly, fruit cocktail or sliced fruits, and puddings (caramel or almond). You've now got a homemade MeetFresh dessert or halo-halo that is portion AND flavor-controlled to meet YOUR health needs--which is great because my taste for sweets has recently changed and I am sensitive to things being overly sweet/heavy. This little contraption is the easiest means to a light, sweet treat. It's a great price point in comparison to the ice cream gadgets I have tested and now resent (PLUS you get a workout ;P). Be sure to freeze the water in the provided cup, I also freeze water in 1/2-3/4 filled 16oz deli cups I use as back-ups--do NOT just use ice cubes (you end up with crushed ice instead of shaved ice--the block of ice is essential because shaved ice absorbs the syrup better and has that essential light and fluffy texture). It's the best you can get at home (I know MeetFresh has one of those expensive machines but this is comparatively great for 1-2 person servings--don't try to use this to serve large parties of people, your poor arms). Clean up is quick and easy too! Seriously, only water goes in so I just take the lid off and let everything air dry before putting it away. If you really want to clean it, I guess you can spritz with a food-safe cleaner (diluted bleach) then gently and CAREFULLY wipe--be aware of the blade though, don't be young me!

EASIER THAN EXPECTED
I had been craving snow cones for a while and was envious of those ones I saw on YT at the Asian markets. So I decided to give it a look when I had some Reward points to use up.I found this MANUAL one for about the lowest price on here plus with the points, I hardly 'paid' anythingThat being said, it has a rubber ring on the bottom which keeps it from slipping. My hand was able to be placed on the top to hold it in place without any problems. I froze the water in the container that comes in the box. It has a lid and opens up easily. Once I had the ice block in the shaver, I started to turn the handle. BOY, DOES THIS HAVE A SMOOTH ACTION! THE 'SNOW' STARTED COMING OUT RIGHT AWAY AND LASTED UNTIL IT WAS ALL GONE. There is a bowl that catches the shaved snow, but if you lose either of these 2 containers, you could probably find replacements in your own food storage containers cabinet. I used cherry syrup and the snow cone was very refreshing. The containers and machine are easy to clean. NOTE: I have figured out I DON"T HAVE TO BUY THE EXPENSIVE SYRUPS. I just pour my favorite drinks (like gatorade, coffee) into the 'ice' bowl instead of water and then I freeze them. Now, if you will be wanting to pour multiple flavors onto you snowball, you will need to buy the syrups. But, overall I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND this product. I gave it a 4 bc it would be nice to have extra ice bowls for multiple users, otherwise you will have to find similar cups to be able to produce multiple servings one after the other.

Simple, easy to use.
I was worried the one block of ice was not enough and I was thinking there should be two or more containers to make multiple blocks. I still may refill it and put the blocks of ice in a bag in the freezer or something. But the one block made three large glasses of shaved ice. Very pleased. It is hard to get the ice out of the container, even by running hot water over it. I have Raynaud's syndrome so this is a little difficult, but I will figure out a way. I like the rubber bottom that keeps it from slipping. The product is easy to use.

Shaves ice really good
The reason I gave this a 4 star instead of 5 is because it shaves ice really good it's just when you get to the end of it it stops because the ice is to thin to shave so you have a little bit of ice that you waste but other than that it works great. It's really easy to use and the ice shaves really fine I will post a pic the next time I use it.

Works fairly well so far
This is a pretty good ice shaver I’ve had it a couple weeks after week one the lil cup for making the ice puck cracked and is sadly leaking liquid. I found a mall bowl that works pretty well. I’ve been freezing Jumex fruit nectars, cold brew coffee, & it works well.
