i found out about this from you tube . I'm a cabinet and furniture maker and I know what's a good well made tool is , and this's a very good product well made very accurate easy to use it's all metal nice finish . I wished the marking were engraved in rather than printing , but only time can tell. This tool has gone step ahead of some of similar product by brand names . all kind of guides , easy to adjust. it comes with dust collection port and it works. It also comes with a 35mm drill bit with adjustable guide for the drill bit and an adjustable guide to drill pilot holes for screws I usually like to buy made in US hand tools , but some tools I have to be wise when buying. I could not believe this was made in China. I used it on cabinet I made I love it . I wish I knew they sold one with clamp built in . I'm planing to buy more of this company's tools

I bought a Kreg hidden hinge jig. The plastic guide melted on the 2nd hole! It took a long search, but as I read reviews of this jig I saw someone used a Freud PB-010 bit. I think part of the success in making accurate counter-bores is the Forstner bit. Once I knew that bit fit in this jig and that the jig is aluminum with a bearing I decided it was worth trying. I'm very happy with this jig using the Freud bit. Updating this review...I've since also used the Forstner bit that is part of this set. I was completely surprised how well it cut the hinge holes in the maple cabinet doors. In fact I would say just as good maybe better than the Freud bit I started using. I can also using a vacuum in the attachment dramatically helps with the wood chip capture.

Difficult to use

What I really like is that this concealed hinge jig is all metal. So drilling does not wear the accuracy down/off which can happen with plastic jigs. I bought the jig since I had a Lazy Susan cabinet hinge break and the style of the hinge was the surface type, really old, and not available. So I had to install the new style concealed hinge and drill the required pocket hole. I had not installed this type of hinge before and was a little nervous drilling deep into the cabinet door. Worked like a champ - first attempt. Love the jig.

I have several jigs from GoingMake and they are all high quality which can only be appreciated when you hold it in your hands and use them to help save you time. Sure you can get plastic ones which will do the same but if you value quality, these are the best bang for the buck.

All metal construction is very welcome when so much out there seems to be plastic. Tolerances are very tight so it's pretty important to either get a shop vac hooked to the backing ring or have it ready to clean out the shavings because the tolerances are so tight, even a bit of sawdust makes it difficult to remove the bit holder. Not a bad thing. Also included is a drill guide to drill pilot holes for the hinges. Unfortunately the hinges I chose did not match up to any of the available holes. So, check your hinge dimensions! (That's the caveat) I would recommend this tool!

This helped me install a couple cabinet doors for some shop furniture. The only problem I had was user error... I didn't tighten the stop-collar quite enough and drilled straight through my cabinet door. Whoops. Tighten that puppy down and you'll have a far better experience :) (I made up for the mistake with an angled piece of wide walnut inlay, so it looks like it was planned that way all along)
