Well designed and exceptional app
I was looking for a smart thermometer that would replace a standard temp gauge on my pizza/grill combo and I was so happy to come across this device. It's ability to measure and track ambient oven temperature and manage 4 separate probes is well designed and functional. I have learned to be weary of smart device apps as that had proven to be the weak spot rule for most of the smart devices that I own. However, the meatminder is the exception to the rule, its professionally built, has snappy pairing, maintains a good connection, and has a clean and intuitive interface.Perfection will be had if a pizza mode/timer is added to the ambient sensor.

Great bluetooth thermometer
I purchased this a few months back after I set my grill on fire. I had just purchased a Hasty Bake grill and was using it for like the third time (I am new to charcoal cooking. All my past grills have been either propane or pellet). I was loading coals in the side, trying to get the fire going and I got side tracked. A little while later, I see all this smoke coming off the grill and was like, "Oh crap!!" The stock thermometer was pegged out and black smoke was rolling out of the grill. Yup. My grill of less than two weeks old caught fire and burned off part of the powder coating on the bottom half. I was sick.Needless to say, I got everything cleaned, touched up, and looking good as new. (Almost) While I was cleaning, I thought, "It would have been handy if this thermometer could have sent an alert to my phone and let me know it was on fire." So, I went on Amazon and started looking. I wanted something I could replace the stock thermometer with and not have to worry about having to take out of a box and connect to my phone every time I use it.Enter Meat Minder ProThis is a direct replacement to my stock thermometer. (Yes it looks like the Arc reactor in Iron Man's chest.) The install was pretty straightforward and it connected to my phone right away. It also came with 4 probes. (If yours doesn't come with the probes, order them. They are a MUST have.) It comes default to Celsius but you can change preferences to Fahrenheit in the settings. The app is super easy to use. You can set upper limit alarms (great for when your grill catches on fire) and lower limit alarms (great for if you've burned through all your coal and don't realize it). It also has food profiles where you can set temp alarms so you don't overcook anything. (Must have the probes for this.)All in all, I would say it is an excellent product. The ONLY reasons I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is:1) Every time you turn it off and back on, it automatically reverts back to Celsius. If I set my preferences to Fahrenheit it would be nice to have that set on the thermometer. I don't always want to fire up my phone to cook. I should just be able to look at the thermometer and know the temp without having to tap into my 8th grade science class to convert the temp.2) The thermometer connects via Bluetooth and not WIFI. This really limits how far you can get from the grill. If I am cooking a brisket for 5-6 hours, I don't want to have to be limited to 10 yards from my grill. Not a deal breaker, but very annoying.

Perfect
This gauges works perfectly it’s a Little bulky but the functionality is amazing and so easy to use the directions are self explanatory . Except it only tells you it has a 3/8” probe but you only need a 5/16” hole in your grill .

Great concept, poor quality
Bought 2 of these to use on my trailer smoker. Extremely high hopes as we have kept adjusting the analog versions for years. Figured digital would be spot on. A few degrees off each other and from actual temp.1st issue is Bluetooth range is not as described. My pit stays a minimum of 40’ from me. Temp gauges kept disconnecting.2nd issue is you have to have the app to monitor temp. Without app, it goes to Celsius3rd issue is you have to switch back and forth to each gauge. Would think if you link multiples they would show up on the app together but nope. You can’t label them either to know which is front or rear.4th is we used the probes on the grill to check temperatures between gauges and there’s about a 30 degree difference. I never probe food during cooks but use them for calibration purposes.Overall, great idea but needs a lot of work. The overall appearance is great, seem to be built ok but it’s plastic housing may weaken over time. My pit stays outside and I’m concerned the contacts will rust, corrode over time. Not sure I can return them as they are used so $120 kinda down the drain

Great concept, but has software problems & flaws
UPDATE: Added a star to the overall rating due to the prompt response by manufacturer explaining that their QR code was hijacked by a third party. Waiting to hear if this has been corrected yet.I'm on my second one of these, from different sellers. I'm aware that you cannot open the app in two devices simultaneously, but I want to be able to choose between my iPad & iPhone. When trying to access the QR code to 'validate' my app (why?) I get a link to the #39 train in NYC from the QR code on the device and a link to a rapper named B.G. when using the QR code in the instructions. Hence, no operability. If anyone has a working QR code, maybe paste it here if Amazon permits?Other issues are as stated by many posters here: failure of app to work just on the device, failure to keep Fahrenheit setting, failure of app to operate in Bluetooth with stated range.

Not enough range when paired with my iPhone
My iPhone only has a 30’ range when using Bluetooth. It’s a great unit, I just needed more range to monitor it.

Works ok, when it works but doesn't last.
I bought this device about 8 months ago, and it's dead. I went to fire up a cook and it wouldn't turn on, I changed the batteries with fresh Duracells and still no response. I am guessing that the weather proofing is not quite good enough as last time I used it it rained but it seemed to be fine...until next I used it. The software is also not up to par and the bluetooth range isn't great, wifi would probably be better. My verdict is find a better one that will last, this one is off to the landfill because no one is interested in making quality products.

Love it
Replaced the analog thermometer on my weber spirit and dyna glo smoker, read outs are pretty accurate, sleak design, app is easy to use.
