OBD2 Scanner, Code Reader.
I'm an older seasoned automotive technician, I'm reviewing this product based on my many years of experience in the field using high quality tools. This small hand held OBD2 scanner is basically a code reader, it will clear trouble codes, and does give a basic information data stream. Can be used on any OBD 2 protocol based vehicle. Scanner is physically small in size, scanner does have a basic diagnostic library, scanner uses simple prompts to direct user in the operation of the scanner. Diagnostic cord is much to short to be considered user friendly. Unit is lightweight and the quality is somewhat questionable. The digital screen is relatively small and needs to be larger, screen is barely readable, instruction manual is included, unfortunately the print is somewhat small and hard to read. Scanner does not come with a any kind of hard case to protect the scanner while being stored. Price point is considered high for this item.

I am really amazed at the versatility of the Exctool Model ET331, OBD II Diagnostic Tool
I am really amazed at the versatility of the Exctool Model ET331, OBD II Diagnostic Tool. There are other scanners out there and this one for the price is excellent. It has lots of features like emissions diagnostics, voltage reader, live data and DLC Library just to name a few. It was even able to read my VIN number. This product is much more than a code reader. This is a simple to use code scanner anyone could use. It is definitely steps above basic. The code reader shows correct codes but the description of the code in the DLC library is very vague. I have to refer to the manufacture's codes for a accurate description of what the fault is.This unit has a 2.8" color screen, making it very easy to navigate.Overall, I like it and I will update my review after some more time with it.It does not come with a USB "C" cable to connect to a computer. Nor was there any information on how to use the USB C cable connected to the computer. I am not sure, but to make this work it seems like the scanner needs to be connect to the vehicle, to power the scanner. The computer does not power the scanner by it's self. You would have to bring a laptop to your vehicle so the scanner communicates with the computer. This would also need to be done anytime you need to do a firmware update. In the description of the unit on the AMAZON page under power, it says "battery". That is somewhat incorrect. It does not have any batteries in it. It runs off of the "vehicle" battery what plugged in to the OBD port.
