This set is from a different vendor, but is exactly the same otherwise as the other two sets. They work perfectly with RG-8X cable. There is a template on the product page which describes exactly how much to strip of what bit of insulation and braid. Note that each connector has three pieces, two of which are essential and the third is the part that makes it stand out. !-The PL-259 connector itself; 2-The metal crimp sleeve that fits over the braid once it is on the connector, and 3-The piece of heat-shrink tubing that fits over the crimped sleeve once the sleeve and cable have been properly inserted onto the PL-259 and crimped into place. Note that the metal sleeve and shrink-wrap sleeve needs to go onto the wire before the PL-259 connector is attached. The heat shrink sleeve is not required, but makes for a neater appearance of the finished product. The connectors can be manipulated to work with RG-58, but it is difficult and the fit is not correct. I did this once by mistake when making a jumper cable and figured it out after the fact. Oops. They work perfectly with RG8X however and “shoould” work with any other coax cable that has the same physical dimensions. As before, when these run out, I’ll buy more for my RG-8X cable work. Review: *Updated review*Collars near impossible to slip over coax shield onto base of connector - Update: 1/19/25 - not sure what happened with the first cable I made with these and the collars. Maybe the shield was especially thick on that Rg8x? Either way I have since used the rg8x and LMR 400 crimp connectors from this brand and I think they are the best on desertcart. The main reason I am saying this is because the threads. They spin freely when screwing on or off. They don’t take any extra force to screw on or off which can damage good threads on other connectors. I do think the connectors themselves are good quality, but the crimp collar is too small for rg8x. I do not slip the connector under the outer lining of the coax, I butt right up to it and slip the collar over. It takes a lot of pushing and twisting to get the collar over the shield and onto the connector to crimp. Will not purchase again because of this.

Fits RG8x as advertised
I was cautiously optimistic about these connectors as there were some reviews that stated they did not fit the RG8x style coax and others that did. If you are expecting the connector to slip UNDER the outer braid AND the outer vinyl jacket, you would be correct BUT that is NOT the way to use these. The vinyl jacket should be cut back about 1/2 in from the end of the outer shield/inner foam which will allow the crimp tube to slide down over the braid once the connector is pushed as far as possible onto the coax. They crimp well and are secure. The biggest difficulty for me was figuring out where to make the cuts on the cable so that a proper amount of center conductor and the amount of exposed braid was created. This was MY issue NOT an issue with these connectors. The shrink tubing makes for a nice professional looking cable. I would not hesitate to buy more of these (and probably other styles) from this vendor.
