Roland Foods Marinated Quartered Artichoke Hearts, Specialty Imported Food, 5 Lb 8 Oz Can

What a bargain this is, and Roland didn't fail to produce a quality product in these delicious artichokes, your going to love them if you love the marinated cooked thistle as I do. The can was full to the brim, so your getting every bit of what you hope for in a canned product like this. It's so huge I had to use a manual hand crank opener on it, which is one of the reasons I keep one around. You never know when power will go out or a can like this will come around. These are marinated in a lovely mix of water, oil and vinegar with herbs. The vinegar is not tart or over powering, the herbs are plenty, and just enough oil to make them tasty, not greasy. Make sure you mix up settled herbs on the bottom of the can though.I put the bulk of these in a 7 cup Pyrex with a lid and into the refrigerator as a lovely chilled pick me up snack, and another 4 cup Pyrex bowl holds the rest which didn't fit the larger bowl. That's LOT of artichoke! I'll use them on eggplant naan pizza, or salads, or might even grill a few with some hickory flavoring and smokey paprika. YUM!Now for the part some of you may not like. The can is lined with a white plastic which I know is objectionable for many. Personally I don't worry about that, but if you do at least you'll know this in advance as I feel you have every right to protect yourself if this is an issue. I've taken photos to share so you can see exactly what your getting with this product after opening. Forgive my crazy under cabinet florescent lighting, it's hit and miss when it comes to color accuracy, these are not unusually green, nor are they yellow, they are pretty much the color you expect out of any can of artichokes.

Divide them into small containers or the can will be gone in a few days... FOR ONE PERSON :DBTW... drink the marinade juice or use it for salad dressing... super delicious

In a side by side comparison, it would be easy to find this product inferior to other similar products but read carefully.Other reviewers have noted that these hearts include some tough outer leaves. This appearsto be true but I don't find that to be a problem for the taste and I think they provide a bit more fiber for the old gut. I think it is possible they use more mature artichokes with a greater number of tough leaves but also cheaper to buy.Some have stated that the marinade is a bit too vinegary. This is true, also, but I like vinegar and I think it is a result of less oil in the marinade. That can easily be resolved by adding a bit of olive oil yourself. Won't affect the taste except to cut the vinegar taste. BTW They taste great, vinegar and all!Overall, this is a great buy. Quantity at a reasonable price. Very minimal sacrifice of quality, if any at all! If you eat these in the quantity that I do, it's well worth the difference

These are not as spicy as Cara Mia and have more oil vs water but are trimmed nicely. They have very few if any tough leaves to chew through that I found with Kirkland (Costco) which were very good too. I filled a bunch of smaller artichoke heart jars with these. Will buy again.

Huge container full of artichoke hearts!

Had small bottles of roland artichoke hearts many times which were great.....This stuff in large can was inedible and nasty....had to dump it all out....what a waste..will buy kirkland brand from now on,they were great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Should be no stars................

I love marinated artichoke hearts and eat them almost every day. These lack flavor. Other reviews state too much vinegar but I found the exact opposite to be my experience. I purchased these because of the good price but I will be going back to the Kirkland brand which is a higher price but higher quality product and excellent flavor.
