Excellent Poles For A Remarkably Low Price, Also See Other Inexpensive Poles Suggested Here
Despite being at an incredibly low price of only $ 10.00/pole ($ 20.00/ pair) these poles are Excellent Value.I bought two pairs of these treking poles, and have had no problems extending, collapsing and locking them as I have found with some treking poles which cost double or even triple the price. These poles come with rubber ferules and attachments for use in snow. Despite the aluminum being made of a relatively less expensive grade than many more expensive poles, I have not experienced any obvious weaknesses when each of the 4 of them were tested under normal pressure generated by heavily leaning on them when they were extended to their maximum permitted (at the STOP sign) heights! The anti-shock system also worked/works very well. The finish is very good, the handles are very confortable, they are supplied in a range of colors, they are light-weight, and these poles even have a button compass stuck on the top of each handle which is a very useful addition. They, like all treking poles, are also very useful for warding off aggressive dogs, snakes, etc., so really are a must for all walkers, and also save your joints from unnecessary additional pressure/damage over time!In conclusion, I believe that they are Excellent Value for their Remarkably Low Price!IMPORTANTLY, POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS SHOULD ALSO CHECK THESE VERY GOOD ALTERNATIVES WHICH HAVE EVEN HIGHER OVERALL REVIEWER RATINGS:BAFX Trekking Poles in Silver or Blue with an EXCELLENT 4.3/5.0 STAR RATING FROM 589 CUSTOMERS for only $ 24.00/ 2 poles: BAFX Products® - 2 Pack - Anti Shock Hiking / Walking / Trekking Trail Poles - 1 Pair with spare ferrules: BAFX Products (TM) - Pack of 5 - Hiking Pole Replacement Tips - For BAFX Products Hiking Poles BAFX Products® - Pack of 10 - Hiking Pole Replacement Tips - For BAFX Products(R) Hiking Poles Also Image trekking poles $ 28.00/ 2 poles (made from better grade 7075 aluminum) 4.5* RATING FROM 20 CUSTOMERS): IMAGE® Pair/2pcs Trekking Hiking Sticks Poles Alpenstock Adjustable telescoping Anti Shock Nordic Walking mountaineering (7075 Aluminum Cork grip Ergonomic) The author declares that NO CONFLICTS OF INTEREST EXIST in the review of this product or any other products mentioned in this review.

Compass doesn't work, but still good
Call me crazy but I think a compass should always point the same direction regardless of which way the compass itself is turned. The compass on both my poles is really just decorative and "North" is whichever way I want it to be. Even so, I like these poles. Those cute little compasses (would plural be compi?) were not a selling points for me. They're too small and I'm too old. I resisted buying trekking poles not wanting to look like a trail dork but I then I read that using poles actually burns more calories and so I got these as a trial pair. The trails around where I live are largely loose rock and sand so footing is always iffy. These help me stay upright, especially walking down hill. I also understand why it burns more calories since leaning on them for balance does use arm and shoulder muscles. I only carry one at a time (so I'm only half dork) so I switch hands, left hand going up, right hand coming down. I realize there are much, much lighter trekking poles out there, but I actually like the little extra weight for a little added calorie burn. The only thing I really don't get is what the foam just under the handle is for.

Great value for the price
Great value for the price, I bought these specifically for hiking through the Narrows in Zion Canyon national park. They held up in water and on rock pretty well, and were quite comfortable to use. They were also very easy to adjust. For the most part they were pretty sturdy, however on multiple occasions, the bottom part of one of the poles gave out when I put pressure on it, and I had to re-tighten it. It was only a minor inconvenience, and it only occurred in one of the two poles, but it was annoying when it happened. The compasses on the handles also didn't work at all, but that didn't really matter. Regardless I would still recommend these poles, especially if you are looking for a good set of less expensive poles.

Except for the Compass, these will do
One mile into the first use I had lost my first compass, the second lasted another 10 miles but ended up falling out as well. While a lack of compasses didn't bother me, I found the empty compass hole to be uncomfortable at times. Otherwise these sticks did their job, and held up structurally for the remainder of the 50 mile hike. They are a bit heavy compared to some of the higher end options, but seemed very sturdy as a result. I didn't find their weight to be significant enough to warrant spending the extra money and am overall happy with the purchase. I would recommend that you glue the compasses in before taking them out for their first use.

Decent poles
I've used these for a year now. Yes as others have said do not pull it out past the point that you're supposed to - with that being said if you're adjusting the size, you almost certainly will pull it past that point. I didn't have too much trouble getting it back in though. Once I had them set I made a hanger on the wall and haven't touched the size again. I like the spring action and I think they've very comparable to the more expensive poles. I wouldn't have any problem buying these again. I almost lost a the rubber ends a couple of times but caught it quick enough.

Walking sticks
i got these with the intention to use them when I take my hike into the Vegas dessert in June, so I have not used them yet. Upon inspection they seem like nice poles. I love the fact that they collapse - but be careful to not overextend them as it can be tricky to figure out how to get them back in. I love the fact that they come with different tips so I can use them with my snowshoes I plan on purchasing. The compass is really small and i would not rely just on that during my hikes. I am looking forward to putting them to the test in June.

Highly recommend
Turned out to be better than I expected. They work well in all kinds of weather. The spring action feels amazing.
