An excellent book for writers everywhere
A wonderful conversation with Chuck about how he writes, the why, the cursed how, the whats and the whens. It's full of simple advice - which is the best kind of advice, isn't it? I think so - hence the five-stars. Also, he is a master of the hilarious footnote. I shall be recommending to all the writers I know and should I ever be up on a stage somwhere being asking for writerly-advice I shall quote heavily from this book!

Exactly What I Needed
If for no other reason, this book gets 5 stars because it got me out of the writing rut that I was in since March (writing this review in May). But more than that, Chuck Wendig delivers great writing advice wrapped in wit and funny as heck humor that'll have you laughing while the stress of writing washes away. Bottom line - it's a how-to guide on letting go, breaking rules, and tearing down all these "must do" or "never do" philosophies that don't always work. Stressed in your writing? Can't write? Feeling shlumpy? This book's for you.

Beautiful. Soothing for my tortured soul.
Thank you. Finally a writing advice, which heals me, not opening new wounds, showing me, how much I supposedly do wrong. I just needed that, despite writing for 12 years now and having published. I felt so broken, so lonely, but now I have hope to overcome my problems. If Chuck did it, I can do it. So: not for anyone who needs stuff like: First climax at 33.33% of the manuskript, and the ADVERBS!!! But for those like me, who just need someone who says: You can do it!

A great book of good writing advice!
This book is a great start for a beginning writer - it's not full of absolutes, more like suggestions and encouragements, all delivered with sharp wit and very funny footnotes. Highly recommended.

The Writing Book We Need
As someone who has been a fan of Wendig for years now, owning and reading all of his writing books, this may be his best work yet. In it, he gives you writing advice, anecdotes from his own life, hysterical footnotes, and bares his soul. But most importantly, this book is a balm for the tortured soul after the past few years in the world. He tells you that it's okay, and that things will be alright, and to be nice to yourself. The most shocking, and yet much needed, bit of advice he says is to have fun with your writing. Because if you're not having fun, then why are you doing it?I would recommend this writing advice book over any other for anyone who's a writer.
