Q: My humidity is reading 99% is the product faulty?

Wow, that's a bit high. Is it raining inside your enclosure? I suggest taking the whole unit outside to see if it changes to a lower reading. Check the MAX/MIN button is not set to show the readings on screen, as when operating, there should not be MAX or MIN displaying. If not, is does seem likely that there is a fault. I have 2 of these, and they have consistent readings, but I also have a Black Orchid Pro-Hydrometer as the main unit for my tortoise enclosure.

Q: Do both probes go inside vivarium ?

The humidity probe and the external temperature probe go inside the tank, the internal temperature probe is inside the display and I tend to sit that on top of the tank, away from the heat source. I put the external probe in the hotspot to get the highest temperature, and I take the internal reading as a minimum (room temp.)

Q: Does the little black box displaying the temperature sit outside the vivarium or can it go inside?

It's designed to go outside but you could attach it inside
