I've found that if I own a tool, no matter how obscure or specialized, eventually I'll either find a use for it or a use for it will find me. These 12" long brad point drill bits are not a "must have" for every tool kit, but if you have them you'll find uses for them. For me, and my uses as a professional handyman, these are in the category of tools I consider "get out of jail free cards". When a use for them comes up, as rare as that use may be, it's difficult/impossible to do the task without them. So far I've only used them to drill through a 6"x6" beam to install a .5" through bolt and without these 12" bits it's tough to imagine how that would have been accomplished. These bits are specifically for soft materials and the brad point on the nose of the bit does a great job of keeping the drill from wandering on those soft materials. I've not used these drills much yet, so I only time will tell if they're durable over the long haul, but I have had other Comoware drill bits for several years and they've held up well to moderate use.These specialist drill bits get 4 stars from this reviewer.

I’m glad to have this set of extra long (12”) dill bits in my tool chest. No, I won’t use them daily but I have them when I need them. The 1/8” diameter bit has quite bit of deflection for carbon steel. I find this to be advantageous. They are sharp and cut a clean hole. The sharply pointed tip assures accuracy. If you do break a bit it’s nice to know you have a back up. These are a deal at twice the price!

For most wood, plastic, etc these will be fine. The smaller ones have significant flex in them, so you have to be careful - starting the hole with a short bit isn't a bad idea for hardwood. And you'll have to watch for overheating, not let the hole get tight, etc. But they'll do the job.The finish is fine mostly, sharp and clean, but there are lapses, metal shavings still attached at some edges, and a bit of roughness here and there. If you need a very clean hole, you'll need to check the bit first. The nick shown in the attached photo is on the 7/16" bit.They come straight, and the brad points on two I tried are properly centered.They're 11-11/16" long +/- 1/16", the fluted parts are 7 to 7-1/4".The sizes are stamped into the shanks.For now I'm using the plastic/paper packaging they came in as a case. I'm cutting off the top 1-1/2" or 2" of the plastic for each bit as I use it, so I can slide it out and back in.For the price, these are a good deal, nicks and all.Comoware is a brand from China.

These bits are very sharp and super useful for boring out some long holes. Surprisingly heavy duty for an import.

This is a nice set of long drill bits, DIY/homeowner grade. Its carbon steel bits and the machining looks good, but they will dull over time. If all you need though is to use them a few times a year of various sizes they will probably never need replacement. The sizes are also good for cable installers and the like but if you hit a metal stud of concrete it's going to dull instantly.They are all engraved for sizes which is nice so you can lash them together and store in a small space. The brad points are nice and sharp so starting holes is easy. The quality to price per bit here is fantastic, literally ¼ the price per bit of buying individually at the big box store.

I've used 12" drill bits much like these over the years for building decks and other construction projects. When you want to securely attach 2" boards to a 6x6 post using through bolts, you will need bits this long, and now I have a complete set. These are brad point bits, suitable only for wood and other soft materials. These bits appear well made. I checked performance by drilling a few holes through a scrap 4x4 and found that the bits cut quickly and aggressively but smoothly. The listing mentions a drill bit holder is included but I don't know what that could be except for the plastic blister pack in which the bits were packaged. I suppose that could work as a low-end storage box, but I made a custom holder for my situation and that's much better. I don't know how long these bits will stay sharp, but at $2 per bit you really don't need to worry about it too much.
