Great for protecting sneaker soles
I bought a roll to 3M my Jordan's that have icy blue or clear bottoms. It applied very well and seems to be what I was looking for. The price was right ( compared to sole protectors ) and it worked out very well. I'd recommend using a heat gun if you can get your hands on one opposed to a hair dryer.

Thousand Stars!!!
This stuff is nothing short of amazing! My expectations were low that I would have the skill to use it, but the material is very forgiving. I was just wanting to cover painted grill trim pieces on my Honda Odyssey. I dont like the Odyssey grill so thought I would improve it by getting the chrome trim pieces painted body color. Unfortunately, here in Maine everything on the front of a car takes a beating from sand and stones in the winter. It took only a week or so to get a couple small chips. So I thought I'd give the 3M stone guard film a try. The first one looked horrible, but I figured I would just go ahead with the others and see if my skill improved. No matter how hard I tried I still had some water bubbled still under the film. I saw discussion on forums that this would dissipate in time and with exposure to sun light, but I was concerned that if I put the grill back on the car with temps below freezing (Maine!) bad things might happen. So I did the best I could and then set the pieces in the furnace room in the basement where temps are about +80f. I am absolutely freaking amazed that after a few days there are no bubbles and even the first piece that I did looks perfect. If you knew me you would know that perfect is rare. Im obsessive compulsive about my cars.... who else would spend any time trying to improve a Honda Odyssey? Its like expert 3M elves went to work over a couple nights and re-covered the trim pieces. Amazing! Oh, and this stuff is so tough. I dont think I'll have any more trouble with store chips. Im looking forward to trying my hand with some bigger items.

Does a very good job, packaging is unfortunate.
I purchased this for a somewhat strange purpose: coating a bike. I ride a fairly nice road bike around campus to and from class often, but still want to keep it looking good. I bought this to keep it from getting scratched by bike racks and careless others. When I first pulled it out of the package (a very small tube), the thing would not stay straight. In order to make it usable I had to put weight on it for a few hours to get it to flatten out and be workable.Installing took a while (3ish hours), but all in all it wasn't too difficult. I used a solution of a few drops of Dawn dish soap in a cleaned out Windex spray bottle to apply. I also used an old credit card to smooth out bubbles, and a box cutter and scissors for cutting. (Sharp scissors worked better in my experience)Once the coating was on, I left it for about 30 minutes, then came back and made sure all the edges stayed down. If I'm totally honest, it looked like utter crap for the first week. I stuck it out because similar products that I've used on digital devices looked better after a few days. Luckily, 3 weeks later, I can barely see the cover even up close. Far away it is entirely unnoticeable. I have since dropped the bike and have 0 scratches on the frame.Buy it! But make sure you're willing to put in time to make it look good.

If you own a very nice, expensive
Purchased this for a sneaker bottom application. If you own a very nice, expensive, or rare pair of shoes that you want to protect whether it be artwork, traction, or translucent bottoms, this is an absolute must have. Thanks to this product Iām no longer afraid or timid to wear my shoes out in public in fear of destroying he bottoms.Pretty simple application process and you only need household toolsSharpie/pencilCardboard(for template)ScissorsHeat gun1.) trace bottom of desired show with a sharpie into carboard or hardstock2.) place the template from (step 1) over the film and cut with scissors3.)peel back protective film and adhere to bottom of shoes4.) hold heat gun at mid-high heat about 8-12ā away from film and move heat gun continuously.(do not hold in on spot too long, this may lead to discoloration of shoe sole.5.) after about 10-15 seconds you should notice the film forming onto the shoe. At that point, with your fingers or another object you can push the film into the grooves and around the edges of the shoe bottom to create a seamless bond. This is only my experience so if you feel unsure about the heat gun part of this process be your own judge on that.
