Hugely enjoyable
The hugely talented Chris Rea gets far less attention than he deserves. Great collection of songs that bear listening to time and again. Thanks Chris

Why I Bought This Album......
Like many other admirers, for me Chris Rea has few equals amongst artists when it comes to the quality and depth of his musical output over the last thirty years.I am lucky enough to own the complete Chris Rea CD catalogue, so why should I decide to purchase his latest "Greatest Hits" collection, when I have previously rejected doing so, with many of the earlier compilations on offer? Was it because of the two new contrasting tracks on offer? No, although "Come So Far...." And "Valentino"are both an enjoyable listen. Was it because of the "extras" on the limited edition package? No, although it was fascinating to see older video footage again, and savour the interesting, informative and often amusing half hour interview with Chris, that was also included. My decision was based on the fact that the vast majority of the tracks on the double album have been re-mastered by Rhino, and I was intrigued to discover how much more of an enjoyable listen they would be, as a result of this. Most of his contemporaries have already reissued re-masters of their most popular albums at least once, but not until now Mr Rea.As with the recent re-mastered release of The Beatles catalogue, I believe that it has been a very worthwhile exercise. Played on a good stereo system, there is significantly increased treble response on many of those so well known songs, and additionally the sound has greater clarity and definition. I was able to listen to more detail within the whole sound, and for me this was important, and gave me greater listening pleasure. I realise that some will not necessarily see this as particularly desirable, and be quite happy with the original recordings, which were by no means badly mastered, or of a poor quality. The release of this album has whetted my appetite to the possible release of re-mastered CD versions of "On The Beach" and all of those other wonderful albums that long time fans love so much. As an introduction to Chris Rea's work, this album contains a very good and sensible choice of songs, but that said many of my own particular favourites are missing!Until then, I can't wait for the Colston Hall in March, and the "Still So Far To Go" Tour!

STILL SO FAR - BUT SO GOOD
I may be a bit biased because I have liked Chris Rea's music for long as I can remember, and seen him in concert and have many of his CD's.Anyway back to this new CD, I expect many people have his greatest hits and think why should I buy this CD, I would say you should still buy it because it has most of the hits and they are remastered but sadly this is where the sound quality differs on some of the earlier songs. But IMHO the really good thing about this CD is that it has many of his newer blues recordings, like Stony Road, Blue Street, Easy Rider and others, it also includes come so far, yet so far to go, so why not order a copy from Amazon it is also a good price for a double CD. By the way have a listen to the CD Dancing Down the Stoney Road, again IMHO this is a really good Chris Rea CD.

Lovely Album
I have been a huge fan of Chris Rea's for many years now - in fact since the mid-1980's. This album represents good value and contains plenty of Chris's older and more contemporary tracks. The wonderful early years were full of energy, the magnificent middle years mellow and golden, packed with romance blended with social message, and now the later years are different again. Perhaps more melancholy and even more thought-provoking there has been something of a movement away from rock-pop - this is especially evident from disc 2. My personal preference is the more upbeat first disc, but in conclusion I would heartily recomment this compilation. Whether you want to relax to "Fool if you think its over" or dance to "Diamonds" or reminisce to "It's all gone".The gravelly voice and the beautifully composed lyrics always seem to take me away to a distant place and time like so many other artists just cannot do. The images conjured up range from distant summer beaches to cold wet streets, to waving fields of poppies, and even endless road journeys through the heart of Europe. In fact there are many different styles in evidence here - all of them just so, so special and well presented.Well done Chris, and long may you continue to produce great music !

Brilliant Compilation!
I never knew much about Chris Rea's music. The only songs I ever heard was Fool (If You Think It's Over), I Can Feel Your Heartbeat, Driving Home For Christmas, which in my opinion is one of the better Christmas songs, and The Road To Hell. I ordered this double CD just for Heartbeat and I was actually quite surprised at how good Chris Rea is. There are a lot of good songs on this CD and well worth the money. It's unfortunate that Chris Rea didn't get the popularity he deserves. He's actually quite a good artist. I highly recommend this CD if you like Chris Rea. I'm glad I bought this one. I didn't know what to expect but I can honestly say that I was not disappointed.

Chris Rea , is a very talented musician , and has covered a variety of musical styles throughout His career . I find His music highly listenable and it pleases me to be able to listen to this man's talents , whilst driving . Terrific value for so many good pieces of music . There are some lesser known gems on this double CD , which might surprise some of you , as it did me . I guess Chris' real fans , will have most of these songs , on various albums .
