Tubular Bells [VINYL]
I know this album! Someone wrote 'it is different'. It is......slightly. It sounds the same with a few exceptions and very minor. There is a certain atmosphere and people who know it will recognise it. Certain instruments have a different reverb added but it is really subtle. As far as I am concerned, I welcome it. Something different. It still sounds tremendous and worth buying even if you have every version available. As for the pressing.....perfect! A great copy. Glad I purchased it. If you do not own the original it is a better option to purchase this than risk a second hand original. I know.....done it!

VINYL: Superb mastering and sound; with reservations!
I have had this album since it came out, and at one time or another owned it on every possible medium. However, putting the reissued vinyl pressing onto my fairly decent record player and paying attention to the sound, I think that yesterday was the first time that I actually heard the music properly. It has layers and details which I had not noticed before. Quite a revelation. The end of side two had the usual annoying clicks and bangs that I have come to associate with these repressings, but this is my least favourite bit, and frankly, I'm sick of returning LPs to Amazon due to manufacturing faults, so I will live with it.I have begun to wonder if suppliers deliberately supply Amazon with B-grade recordings knowing that Amazon will collect and replace the item at their own expense....... maybe I'm being over suspicious (I have had to return LPs to shops also, but not as often as to Amazon), and Amazon always honour their guarantee, but it can be a bit annoying having to put aside days for collection on top of for delivery. That detail notwithstanding, if you have the equipment and like the piece, you really need to buy this!

Different to my 1970s LP, not as good
I hoped this would be an exact duplicate of my original 1970s disc but it’s not, some bits sound different on this new record and on the whole not as good and lively. It’s a good quality pressing but sadly not good enough to replace my 40 year old LP which still plays well. A lot of the differences are minor but to me noticeable. It sounds more like a CD I have which is a messed about much later version, rather than a CD from the early 80s which is a much closer to the original recording. If your 70s disc is in a bad condition then this is a nice replacement, otherwise I wish I’d stuck to my old disc and not bothered with this one.As I said differences are minor but something seems lacking in this new LP. After listening to this I then played my old LP at same settings and could immediately notice a difference. This disc had a lot of flecks of paper on the playing surface and a bit of the paper cover had stuck to the playing surface at the start of side 2

Arrived quickly, undamaged and sounds great
The media could not be loaded. After being introduced to Mike Oldfield by my partner I was recommended this album, loved it instantly as I realised I had listened to a some of the tracks already for reasons like The Exorcist. Getting the Vinyl was the next obvious step for me as I love the whole process involved with record players (I also listen to digital tracks). Delivery was quick for me, came in the typical amazon packaging which as long as handled with care (which it was) is no issue.

Tubular Bells is an outstanding piece of music, whether you want it as a bit of background music or you crank it up,,, it is just excellent!!!I have all of the Tubular Bells albums and listen to them on a fairly regular basis. For me,,,, it's the best thing Richard Branson ever did,,, signing up Mike Oldfield to the Virgin label!!!
