Smells like Ireland!
Has a real nice smell, it's the smell of a small town pub with open fire places, walking the sidewalk on a cool evening, or home. There were some reviews that were stating it is hard to light, which is true. For crying out loud man its turf, of course its hard to light! If you have a torch style lighter, it is easily doable. You need to keep in mind that heat rises, so make sure you position it where it burns up, like lighting the side. I recommend this product

Awesome aroma
Saw several reviews about the peat being hard to light or remain burning but glad I ignored that. Seriously people, just use a torch lighter and hit a corner for about 20-30 seconds and it will burn just fine. Nice slow burn and the aroma is soooo nice. Close your eyes, grab a beer and no matter where you are really at, it's like being in a rural Irish pub. Don't hesitate to get this if you enjoy the aroma of a fireplace.

Great aroma
Next to impossible to keep the peat lit.Tried several of the hints in the reviews - lighter, stove, etc. but out in 10 minutes.Otherwise I like the product.

If you get it lit it’s grand
Getting these bricks lit is going to test your patience which is why you should pick the pub building and not the home. Drink a few Guinness while you try to light them. Don’t worry, you’re going to swear which is why you want the pub, you know the wife will eat the head off ya if you were to swear like this in front of the kids. I tried using a Bic starter and used all the kerosene in one wand before I decided to just use a kitchen burner. A pair of BBQ tongs and 20 seconds in the burner and I got it going. Oh yes! It is definitely a turf fire. Warning: use a small piece of a brick and not a whole brick or you will set off your smoke detectors, make your eyes redder than a 12 inch blunt, and create coal miner lungs. Just a pinch burns for a few minutes but the scent will linger for a few hours. Why five stars? Because it’s exactly what you want it to be and also you don’t have to worry about flying insects in or near your home.

cute idea but very difficult to keep lit.
The idea is very cute but it is very difficult to keep the peat pellet lit. I used up an entire gas lighter stick trying to get the peat started at all and it went out over and over after less than 30 seconds. Maybe if I added a few drops of lighter fluid ??? (Do they still make lighter fluid ?)Some of the peat pellets were falling to pieces in the package so may be difficult to use.Looks nice when it's burning and I liked the odor but regular oriental incense sticks actually burn much easier so may have to try using them instead.

Smells like home
The peat smells like Dublin! This little pub is a perfect tabletop size. The burn plate is big enough for a good chunk of peat, and does not heat through so it's safe for the table. The peat is hard to light so I use a firelighter/torch. Once it's going it burns well for a long time. I love it, there is nothing like this smell to evoke Ireland.
