Bagpipes, Beasties and Bogles (Picture Kelpies)

A joy for anyone with a connection to Scotland
My kids (3 and 5yrs) adore the story of Charlie McCandlewick, the nightsweep, who cleans up 'the bogle creatures of the night'. It works on many levels, there are lots of good Scottish words and references. I now firmly believe that bagpipes are indeed full of monsters who wake up and groan when you squeeze the bag! Have bought it for many visitors. Highly reccomended.

read this but not used it at a story telling session just yet - but I'm sure it will work as well as 'you can't play here': pics are simple but very effective.

picture book: bagpipes, beasties and bogles
Lovely little book bought because it is different to any other book we have read before. The pictures are just right for the story, which makes the children laugh. They especially like the combination of the beasties and bagpipes!Would definitely recommend this book

It was a little too old for the child I had in mind but I will keep it and read it to her when she is older. A good bed time story for children who are afraid of the dark.

My Son loves this book
My son LOVES this book! After initially borrowing it from a local library in the summer, we read this book to him every single night for two whole weeks. After he recently asked if we could go back and get it again we decided to buy it for his 5th birthday in March. It’s been read on an almost daily basis ever since.
