This worked well to cover an access hole we needed to close up
We removed a coffee maker on our cabin cruiser and needed to cover the access hole the cord went through. This was perfect. Covered up but we can get in if we need to. It was high quality for a marine product!

Two years of use later: works OK. Need TRUE watertight? Read this
This is a solid 4 stars for the price. I installed it 2 years ago as an access hatch in my camper van's water tank and it has done its job since then. It's fairly sturdy and looks nice. But it will never be watertight for most people's use cases. So why is this thing not watertight? Well, to use an O-ring as a seal like this design does you need even compression across the gasket, something keeping the gasket in the right place, and sufficient tightness. This design doesn't have all three: the plastic plate is too flexible to provide even compression, the gasket is not held in the ideal place, and you cannot get great leverage on this thing to tighten it with the small finger holds. If you were to mount this to a very stiff and flat material - say, steel of sufficient thickness - and really tighten it hard, you will likely get it watertight, but most people are working with a backing that is either not truly flat or not sufficiently stiff. There is also no form of locking to keep it tightly closed, so once you get it watertight that is no guarantee it will stay that way.If you really need watertight - true 100% watertight, as in on the side of a water tank or to keep water out - you need a gasket with even pressure and something strong enough on both sides of that gasket. You will also want a design that allows you to lock it closed. Search for "Watertight Compression Access Hatch" for one good design. You'll be spending a minimum of around $100.

Very well made Hatch - much better than the one the boat manufacturer installed.
I installed 2 of these on the rear deck of a Make Pro 17 skiff above 2 nine gallon gas tanks - one on each side of the deck - so I could fill the tanks under the deck without having to take the tanks out. They match the texture of the deck surface and look like they came with the boat. I liked them so well I bought a third one to replace the inferior one that came from the factory in the boat to give access to the bilge and live well pumps.
