Dimensions are wrong...
The dimensions are off. It's closer to 2.5 x 2.25. The box itself isn't even 3 inches! (unless it's a tardis box.. inside bigger than the outside lol)I was going to use this as a single serving camp rice cooker. But this is far too small. The twist lock would be perfect as I could break it down and pack in my cookset. Now although this will not work for MY application, it does seem, however, to be pretty good quality.Very well constructed close fitting and a good positive twist lock.Going to order a larger size of the same thing and hopefully get something closer to about a cup of cooked rice! lol

Good, not as big as I thought
I was looking for an infuser that I could use to brew about 3 pints of tea at a time. This one does reasonably well, except for teas that have large leaf pieces. For this amount of tea they expand too much and totally fill the interior of the ball. You will also get "tea dust" at the bottom of your container, though I think most infusers have this issue. Seems well made for the price. We have used it about 20 times and except for the issue above, it has worked fine.

Good, but not fine.
I organize the Tea Time at the math department in my university, so I always need to make one or two pitchers of tea. I got this infuser just because of its size and because of its price; and, really, if you want to maximize the former and minimize the latter this is a good product. The only problems I've had with it are that for finer teas there is a lot of tea that seeps out (which is to be expected) but there is no problem if I'm brewing coarser teas.

practical and big!
I was surprised at how big this thing really was! It might not go directly into your cup, if you are like me that fills it with fresh leaves and keeps refilling the cup with hot water. I might have to get a pot to put this thing in. Good thing about this is it is sturdy, and the lid fits snug (screw type) unlike the previous tea ball I had bought on Amazon where the latch was terrible and the leaves came out of the ball very easily.

A Recipe for Success!
As an avid tea drinker,I have been searching for the best way to brew my teas for some time. And this large tea ball fits the bill perfectly. The twist closure has advantages over the hinge and clasp design. Less chance for breakage and no spillage from a poor rim seal. It is large enough for cooking, but I prefer to use it solely for tea. The 3-inch size allows maximum room for the tea to move (essential for a well brewed tea.) So take your six or eight-cup Brown Betty teapot(also sold on Amazon,) a teaspoonful of any loose tea, this ball and voila! It has the added advantage of allowing you to remove the tea from the bot and avoid over-brewing.

Perfect
Got this yesterday & used it right away. I had been looking for an infuser for my loose leaf teas to avoid having to strain every time I poured a cup. This was perfect! I didn't realize really how big this one is, but luckily it still fit in my favorite teapot.Used twice already I feel confident in saying it will last a lifetime. The mesh was not flimsy like someone stated. It's thick enough to hold in the loose tea leaves & yet thin enough for the water to flow evenly through it. Definitely worth the money.Easy to clean after use. I let it air dry on the drain board before putting it away.

Great for large qualities of loose whole leaf tea
I agree with a previous reviewer that the mesh is too wide for many cheaper teas, which tend to include leaf parts and tea dust. However, for whole leaf teas, this is perfect to make large quantities (eg, 1 liter +).I washed it in the dishwasher and also left it in water for an extended period (12 hours), which no evidence of rust.

and it is not a bad product, but doesn't hold up to the hop ...
I use this for hombrewing (dry hopping in kegs), and it is not a bad product, but doesn't hold up to the hop expansion that can occur if I put more than 2 ounces in. In order to deal with this I just strung and tied it up with dental floss.
