Encyclopedia of Animals Paperback – 3 Aug. 2006

I’ve bought several books for my child who has special needs. This is the best non-fiction book I’ve seen. Big, clear, high-quality pictures, and it has the exact name for the animal species (not just “lizard” or “cat”!). The descriptions are short but informative and juicy. The photos are so beautiful that I decided to make big “flash cards” for my daughter so she will learn about all the other animals other than the ones in regular flash cards. I felt sorry for cutting the beautiful book, but it will help my daughter more if the photos were in individual big cards. I bought another copy of the book so we have one that’s intact! Thanks for this fantastic book. It’s my favourite.

This book is great lots of good pics and info and being an autist adult who prefers kids books as their easier i love it

It has really great photos and illustrations.It covers each animal briefly with a description of it's characteristics, but beautifully illustrated.It has a large range of animals.Suitable for a child age 8 - 14 or even for an adult who likes the photos.

I chose this for my niece who is always asking about animals and loves going to the zoo. The layout of the book is really user friendly and is very clear. The pages have lots of information yet it is really well presented and easy to follow. A star buy.

I bought this book as a present for my granddaughter who is currently obsessed with animals. The book is perfect for her and seems to have been designed for young children. Each page contains lots of pictures of animals with a small description for each one so there's lots to see and not much reading - ideal for children in the 5 to 8 age groups.

Purchased this second hand for a young advanced reader, as the books are fairly large and weighty I didn't want this young reader to get upset if a page was torn etc. I am thrilled such a perfect book turned up, cannot really tell it has been used and I don't think I'll ever purchase a new book again judging by the condition of this book at such a saving.

This book is too good..my son loves it..introduce ur kids with animal pictures n tell interesting facts about animals..their picturization memory will increase if u introduce more books like this.This book gives lot of information regarding each animal..

Every child should have this book! Its full of so many photos of all different kinds of animals and lots of great information as well. My three year old loves to page through this book and the information is concise enough that I can quickly read a page or paragraph and tell her about the animal, yet it has enough info that we both learn something new. We plan to use this as a resource for many years to come, but its great just for looking at pictures even now! I think it should come in hardcover, but I couldn't tell if the hardcover version was the same or if it was an older edition since it looks different. We have the soft cover and it looks like will hold up ok, but being such a big heavy book I'd rather it was hard cover. Oh well. I debated between this book and the "my first" version and chose this, I'm glad I did, the "my first" just didn't seem to have as much info or animals in it as this one. This one isn't overwhelming either, its great!
