Victorinox Soldiers Knife 08 Swiss Army Knife, Large, Multi Tool, 10 Functions, Locking Blade, One Hand, Green/Black, (0.8461.MWCHB1)

I wanted a victorinox pen knife and saw this model in Switzerland .On return to the UK i found it on Amazon at a better price . The best thing about it is that you can deploy the blade single handed . Its super sharp and whilst expensive the quality of it construction is obvious to see. I like the fact that it is not red as well .

Not UK legal for carry, but if you can ignore that, then this is an amazing tool. Sturdy, sharp, comfortable to hold and one hand opening is very useful. The main blade has two drawbacks that I can think of, first the serated edge makes sharpening difficult, and secondly, the opening orifice is strangely placed. Not very comfortable to use, but still useable. I think a stud might might of have been better.The item arrived in a blister pack.

Usual Victorinox quality here ,great outdoors camping tool where a lock blade is almost essential? This must be remembered when purchasing this knife as its non legal carry here in the UK! The blade is also over the max three inches too! These are the same as issued to the swiss soldiers and carry on a long tradition of this habit?The one thing I don't like is the blade is chisel ground! Meaning only sharpened on one side! I'm sure the swiss military had their reasons for this ?An excellent knife but not legal for the UK daily carry sadly!

There is nothing else to say except you cannot beat the original Swiss Army knife. It is an iconic product absolutely deserving of its reputation for quality and practicality.

This is serious kit. Very well made and designed. One hand opening of large blade (u-tube videos out there on correct method to do this safely with your thumb) once practiced a few times is actually a very useful feature in a number of real life situations when for whatever reason you have only one hand free to open up the blade. The locking on main blade and large screw driver is solid, adding to the safety of this tool in use. With A LOT of practice it is possible to safely de-lock main blade with one hand, again handy to be able to do in some situations. The blades are razor sharp from new and hold there edge surprisingly well in use, with correct sharpening techniques no reason they shouldn’t continue to do so for a very long time to come. I’d recommend buying the official Victorinox 4.0822.4 belt pouch for this item, which is equally well designed despite first appearing rather flimsy is actually surprisingly hard wearing and well designed.

This is a belter of a knife.The blade is quite large and sturdy when compared to the smaller SAK. It is easy to deploy one handed and the liner lock is simple to operate. I have a number of SAK knives but wanted a larger knife when out camping and cutting sticks.All tools open easily and I find the knife is very comfortable in my hand.BE AWARE that it is not covered by the folding pocket knife exemption for a folding non locking blade less than 3 inches. It is not illegal BUT you would need to show a good reason to possess it in a public place. So in summary an excellent knife shame no cork screw I guess soldiers don’t need that in the field.
