This actually works for putting your socks on! Mine did not come with directions, so having experimented with it I've found that you need to put the sock on it all the way down to the toes and hold it a bit more vertical than horizontal ,slip your foot all the way down and pull up on the handles to slip the plastic holder out while you are lifting on the handles the sock is pulled up along your calf. It works well if you have problems bending due to back issues. The only slight problem I had was that my small woolen women's socks didn't stretch enough but it worked really well with my husband's gym socks and work socks.

You cannot imagine how stressful and how painful it is trying to put on your socks when you have a hip that is bone to bone and you cannot cross your leg to put the socks on. I bought this and the first time I tried it it was a piece a cake, took only seconds and no pain what so ever. Each time I use it is just so easy and makes my life so much easier. I highly recommend it for anyone who has a problem getting their socks on.

Price is very good compared to alternatives. I found the sock aid to be hard plastic and narrow even though I do not have a wide foot. If trying to put the unit flat on the floor to insert your foot, it is very uncomfortable and squeezes my foot tightly with typical athletic socks prepared on the unit. This is because your foot winds up squeezing down to the bottom of the hard "u-channel". However, I realized that it is much easier and more comfortable if I stand and insert my foot nearly vertically into the prepared unit. That way, my foot stays closer to the top of the unit against the soft sock (not down in the narrowest "u-channel" part}. and easily slides in near the sock. This is a very helpful medical aid for someone with limited flexibility.
