Affordable Luxury Upgrade for my Home Office
I've had this chair for a week now and it has greatly improved my posture over my old traditional desk chair. The chair came in a very large box with instructions to assemble the foot first and then the seat and backrest which came very well packed. The box has the two “allen” wrenches you will need. I assembled it myself but would recommend two people. It only took me 30 minutes to complete assembly. I even used the white gloves that are included for you to build it. Then I tested the functions and everything worked fine. The feel: The leatherette is very soft and feels luxurious. The stitching on the handles is thick like a luxury sports car. The cushions are comfortable and I was worried about that because of another review, but I think it's more than adequate. I am 5'9" and 160 lbs so the width between the handles (20 inches) gives me 6 inches to spare and move any way I want to. The length of backrest is more than enough and is as high as to top of my head, so I am well supported. The backrest posture is great, and not adjustable. The chair has two main adjustments: On the left side you can lower or raise the height. Keep in mind that you cannot raise the chair while you are seated in it, you must relieve the weight and pull the handle to raise it. You may lower it while seated. On the right side you have the electric adjustments for reclining the backrest and raising the foot rest. You cannot raise the foot rest without the backrest reclining: they are joined mechanically without a way to unlink the two. This means you cannot have the backrest in an upright position while the foot rest is lifted. Not an issue in my view, but it may be for some people although this would result in an awkward position. The chair is amazingly comfortable as a recliner by itself! The electric mechanism has a battery and should not be left charging at all times. The cable should be plugged in for charging only. Once the battery is charged, the charger will beep to tell you to disconnect. The instructions talk about beeping. And you should soon discover the difference between beeping 2 seconds or 9 seconds apart as to whether the battery is too low or when the battery is full. I have tested and tested this week and the battery has not needed recharging yet, so it must have a very long life.

Broke after 4 months
Chair feels great to sit in, but battery does not last long, so after a couple months it needs to be charged nightly and my chair broke after 4 months of use. I am well below the max weight this chair says it supports but after 4 months it has already broken.

Well, it LOOKS pretty
So I'm a heavier guy (about 235lbs), and I work from home all day. I've been looking for a better chair that was far more comfortable than my previous chair that I had worn out. I looked at this chair, read the reviews, and decided to give it a chance. The first problem was actually GETTING the chair. I chose this chair over a similar chair because it would be delivered in a few days instead of two weeks. But by the day this was set to be delivered, it hadn't even been shipped yet. Thus began the odyssey of trying to connect with Amazon customer service, which was a headache of it's own. It was set to be delivered on a Wednesday; by Thursday, all the site told me it was running later and that I wouldn't be charged until it shipped. Great, except for the fact that I HAD been charged and those funds removed from my account. Thus started another round with Amazon's CS department.By Friday it had FINALLY shipped, and it got delivered to me that day. Amazon also gave me my money back, making me think that maybe they were trying to make good for the hassle (they weren't. The payment was finally taken the next day). That's all about the experience of getting the chair. Now for the chair itself- it's about as comfortable as the chair I bought it to replace. Which is to say not that comfortable. The padding on the seat itself feels thin- if feels like I'm sitting on a thin throw pillow on a plank of wood. The back is ok, but a bit stiff. That will take some breaking in. The arm rests are low and not adjustable, and the padding is really thin on them. I actually added some additional separate arm rest pads I had bought previously- that helped tremendously. The worst part for me is the reclining function. It works great- it's very smooth- but because of the nature of the electric reclining system, it locks into place. So if you are looking to sit forward to grab something, you need to incline the seat with the controls, otherwise you are struggling to move forward. Also, the footrest is locked into the reclining function- you can't bring it up manually, and you can't adjust the height manually. It only comes all the way up when the chair is fully reclined, which pretty much makes it useless for me.If it wasn't such a hassle, I might have considered returning this. As it is, I'll probably go out and buy some couch cushion padding and see about customizing the seat. But for anyone else- save your money.
