Health Care Information Systems: A Practical Approach for Health Care Management

The media could not be loaded.  This boom was a rental and the condition from the outside was not great, but the inside is good and that’s more than enough.

I rented this book for my healthcare information systems class for fall 2021. The book was not in good condition, its paper back and is loose at the spine. I think they can get one more good rental from the book. I am on a budget and am thankful that amazon provides rental for such a great price. I am definitely making the book work for me by being careful when using. I am giving the four stars because I was still able to use the book.

This book is waaaaayyyy too wordy. It’s like they took 10 pages of info and elaborated until the chapter was 30 pages long. It IS thorough. The headings aren’t very organized. I wish they had cliff notes... it takes me hours to read a chapter and I can read a novel in less than a day.

Overall it's a lot of talk in this book without being very informative. A good example of this is the leadership chapter - it's literally just restating the cases in the book without giving any additional information on leadership styles, models, etc., leaving you to try and figure out what they are. Figures in the kindle edition are low quality and hard to read, making them unusable on larger screens (8" or larger). This could have been done much better overall.

This book is supposed to have 608 pages. The one I received only has 484 pages.

The authors obviously have a lot to share with readers. It is more like a report of the healthcare informatics field, with a lot of discussion on the history and evolution of it.Too much is in the book that readers cannot see its main points clearly. You have to dig into the information and find the topic sentence that is hiding in any place of a paragraph.Lists are not used when you expect one.Summary does not really summarize all key facts and statements.This book is more of a report than a textbook.

Got this book as rental. Book is in good condition and the chapters are meaningful and knowledgeable material. First few pages and chapters had coffee stains and Highlighting other than that’s it’s fine.

I am using this book for my Health Care Information systems class.
