Perfect for either small group or individual study
Taking a closer look at Jesus through the “I Am” statements in John was so interesting. I especially like how this book bridges the gap between the Old and New Testaments, showing God’s unfaltering nature. This book is ideal for small groups or individual study.

I AM is the most important concept in life to comprehend
The book "I Am: An 8-session Bible Study of John" presents an invitation to explore the profound concept of 'IAM.' From the very start, the author clarifies that this book is designed to foster thought and discussions on scripture without enforcing a singular 'right answer.' Hence, in my opinion, it becomes imperative for the reader to delve deeper into the significance of 'I AM' and its correlation with terms such as bread, gate, door, light, good shepherd etc.Among the four canonical evangelists, John stands as the most mystical, prompting readers to interpret the text with a mystical lens.Agreement exists among religious circles that all things were made by God, yet the identity of God remains a point of contention. The scriptures, however, resoundingly echo the consensus that Moses, the prophets, and Jesus align in their perceptions of the identity and nature of God. They illuminate a profound truth: the awareness of being is God. Moses revealed this by declaring, "I AM hath sent me unto you," while David's psalms echo, "Be still and know that I AM God." Isaiah emphasizes, "I AM the Lord and there is none else."The New Testament reiterates the awareness of being as God in numerous instances: "I AM the shepherd, I AM the door, I AM the resurrection and the life," and various others. This consciousness serves as the portal through which life's manifestations pass into the realm of existence. The explicit statements do not read, “I, Jesus, am the door. I, Jesus am the way,” etc nor does it pose the question, “Whom do you say that I, Jesus, am?” Instead, the explicit declaration stands as, “I AM the way.” This awareness of being acts as the gateway through which life's expressions transition into the realm of existence.Consciousness holds the power of resurrection, birthing that which one is conscious of being. Understanding this truth liberates individuals from self-imposed limitations. By relinquishing former beliefs in a God separate from oneself and embracing God as the awareness of being, as exemplified by Jesus and the prophets, one can unify with the divine. "I and my father are one," a seemingly perplexing statement, finds illumination when understood in the light of God's identity as consciousness. The kingdom of God or heaven is within.Jesus’ elevation in consciousness, symbolized by "He went unto his father," denotes a transcendence beyond the limitations of his current self-conception as 'Jesus.' "I am the good shepherd" underscores the role of awareness in guiding and acknowledging the various aspects of self."I AM" acts as an open door for all aspects of one’s being. The awareness of being serves as the shepherd of life, ensuring that all facets of one's conscious being find their way. With this profound understanding, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want" acquires new meaning as consciousness never lacks proof or evidence of what one is aware of being.“I am the good shepherd and know my sheep and am known of mine. My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they will follow me.” Awareness is the good shepherd. What you are aware of being, is the ‘sheep’ that follow you. So good a ‘shepherd’ is your awareness that it has never lost one of the ‘sheep’ that you are aware of being.Standing as a resonant voice amid the complexities of human existence, this presence reaches out to those who, like itself, embrace a conscious self-awareness. Never does the essence of what one truly believes themselves to be fail to align with their existence. 'I AM' operates as an open gateway, welcoming every aspect of one's identity to step forward. Individual self-awareness serves as the guardian and mentor of one's life. Consequently, 'The Lord is their shepherd; they shall not want' unveils itself as an embodiment of their consciousness. They will consistently possess the evidence and confirmation of who they consciously perceive themselves to be.

Excellent study
I throughly enjoyed this study. I’ve done several of Wiersbe’s and thought I’d try something different. I like the New Testament tied to Old Testament approach. I’m starting “The Word” because “I Am” was so helpful in my walk.

Tried to send back but amazon said to keep it and refunded me
Barely counts as a book, i think pamphlet would be more accurate. It doesn't really teach much about “i am”, it really asks questions, what do you think X means? When expecting visitors and greeting them at the door, what do you do? (An actual question)In the tabernacle the lampstand was to be tended daily and filled with clear olive oil, what does this say about Jesus? I don’t know you tell me, thats why i bought the book! The whole “book” is full of questions like the above. I felt ripped off until amazon refunded and saved the day.
