I ordered this item for my 2015 Ford Edge SEL. I have two functional key fobs for the car but have ordered at third in case one becomes lost or non-functional. My reasoning is that, for my vehicle, new fobs can be self-programmed if you have two functioning key fobs. Lose one and I found a local key service that will provide a replacement and program it for $250. With S/H this one cost $64.78. I followed the programming instructions in the owner's manual (pg. 70) and it programmed perfectly. I don't know how long the battery will last if it sits, but battery replacement is simple enough - if you don't trim your fingernails to short (that's a hint). I'm almost tempted to purchase a 4th but won't.There is one hint for 2015 Ford Edge owners. The manual shows a vertical programming cradle. Mine is horizontal. At each step, I laid the fob face up with the key ring facing the rear of the vehicle. Easy peasy.

I bought this not for the new remote “case”but as it was the cheapest key blank I could find. I’m amazed you can’t simply get blanks cheaply as even Ford won’t sell keys without transponders, to be used as a spare entry key, to be kept in a wallet.Key works great after being milled and I now have a spare key for a total of $20 which while I’d rather it be $5 is a lot better than what Ford wanted.

This key FOB I purchased STATED that is programable to my car. 2014 Lincoln MKZh. Some reviews state FOB. Didn't program or that it's only the shell. I can say with certainty that this FOB. Has the electronics and the key inside for cutting. I programmed the FOB with my MK100 key programmer and it works like the original. I only had 1 original key. Some state that you need 2 keys and you do if you want to use the onboard car key programmer. I was able to program the key with my computer only having 1 original key. I saved myself 150 BUCKS!

I ordered two of these, and made an appointment to get them programmed by a locksmith. The locksmith told me he tried every trick he could think of and that they will not work, wasn’t a fluke because neither of them (2 chances) would program to my vehicle! I was trying to save money. Amazon refunded the money for the fobs but the rep I talked to told me there was nothing they could do to make it right with the $75 service charge from my locksmith.. when I asked the representative if there was someone else I could speak to I was told no.. so now i have been will be without a car for who knows how long…I will be purchasing the more expensive product plus an extra $75 for a wasted service call because amazons product was not what they said it was going to be !!!! Disappointed to say the least.

I don’t like that it wasn’t clear up front that you need two working key fobs to program a new one. I reached out to a locksmith (as recommended) and was told they don’t program keys not bought from them. This product is useless to me. Will return.

I was about to be charged $275 for a new key fob from the Lincoln dealership and I’m so grateful I rejected that offer! This key fob cost me $15 and it works great! I kept my original key fob and switched out the batteries and the program circuit. Easy day!!

Ignore all the bad reviews on this product. Every bad one was written from people that actually thought this was a complete remote. This is only a new cover. However this cover I could swear was cast out of the original Ford molds. Outside of there being no logo on the back. It is easily as good as the originals.
