Oyster: A good quality home Photo Paper - take advantage of the free ICC Profiling.
PermaJet Oyster is great low cost inkjet photo paper. We had a pack of 7x5" from a magazine cover and finally got around to trying at after not being happy with the inaccuracy of colours using Canon Glossy PP101 or Semi-Gloss SG201 with a Canon Pixma IP4300 and new IP7250. I used Photoshop handling colours with the supplied Canon profiles as well as letting the printer driver handle the colours and neither was really accurate.Decided to take a punt on a pack of A4 seeing how the 7x5" looked similar to Canon SG201 using the Canon SG201 profile. The plan was to take advantage of the free profiling service and thus profile the Permajet paper properly and close enough for the Canon paper. The profiling service was fast, and I had a profile in my email inbox the next day or the day after. Pretty much as soon as they got it in the post, they profiled it.Definitely get your printer, paper and ink setup profiled. Makes a huge difference. Frankly I am disappointed in how far off Canon's own canned profiles are, they are utterly terrible. Colours match the calibrated Dell IPS monitor much more closely now, give or take brightness. I am using a ColorMunki Display with ArgylCMS/DisplayCal software and set to 6500K.As far as the texture goes. It's a soft stipple surface that makes reflections and big mush, which is good. We have never liked glossy photos and they do really show reflections as crisp and sharp, which is not nice. It's similar to Canon SG201 really, although a bit whiter. I've read a review that claims it is a bit green too, and that Calumet's own paper is better, but I don't have that to compare and don't find a problem with Permajet Oyster. The box is nice that it comes in too. A better solution to Canon's flimsy folded cardboard sleeve that offers no protection and makes removing a single sheet a nuisance.

As usual, PermaJet deliver excellent quality photo paper at a good price.
I have printed many photographs over the years, and used various brands of paper. Some Have been excellent, and some lacking to say the least. PermaJet have always delivered with their quality at a reasonable price. They are not the cheapest, but in this instance it is far better to pay a little more than bargain basement price, to get a reliable paper for photographs. You certainly don't get striping or bronzing with paper as you do with cheaper brands. I would also on par with papers that are many more times the price. So, if you want excellent quality pictures at a reasonable price, then make this paper on your shortlist.

Made the switch from Hahnemuhle to Permajet
When I switched from the HP9180 to the Epson 3880, I also decided to switch media brands. I'd been using Hahnemuhle PhotoRag Pearl and Hahnemuhle Glossy Fine Art but there'd always been a slight residue on the prints so that if you were to touch the print within the first 24 hours after printing, you'd get some offset on your fingers. After buying a sample pack of the Permajet papers (Oyster and Ultra Pearl) I was impressed by the colour accuracy straight out of the box with the Epson 3880 and moreso when I realised that I wasn't getting any ink on my fingers, so I tried the paper with the HP9180 and it was the same - no smudging or transference. Even immediately after the print has come out of the printer, it's dry to the touch and can be rolled up to be shipped out with no fear of losing any of the image in the rolling process. In terms of image quality, it's much better than expected. I hadn't used Permajet until that point and always swore by Hahnemuhle but, since trying out the Permajet brand, I've not gone back to Hahnemuhle and have recently started using the Permajet A2 papers. Very highly recommended.

Fantastic Photo Paper
This is a fantastic all round photo paper, quick drying , reflections and glare is minimal.Colours are nice and vibrant, blacks are nice and dark and whites are nice and bright.I bought a Permajet sample pack first and Oyster is my choice for my prints. I mostly print my landscape and Astro photographs but I do have 2 kids, so sometimes I print photos of them as well. I did however slightly prefer Permajet Smooth Pearl for warmer skin tones but you would really need to see them side by side to see the difference.

Prodotto eccellente

Best paper around for artists and photographers
This is the absolute best professional paper on the market. Thank you Amazon for making it available in the US again. We have used this paper for about 15 years now, actually ordering it directly from the UK and paying customs and having to put together a huge order to make it worth the shipping. Now we can get it as needed. This paper is acid free and also sets the ink below a UV barrier using micropores, like a Swiffer Duster. This not only prevents fading or yellowing, but makes the dot from the printer stay the proper size. The Oyster has a slightly pebbly surface that makes the colors just POP from the page. We wouldn't think of reproducing our art on any other paper. Hopefully it will be available from a US distributor again at some point, but for now Amazon appears to be the best source in the USA.
